Default B18B LS with Crower 404's on boost?

I'm thinking about swapping this one LS head thats loaded with crower 404's, springs, retainers onto another motor I was thinking of boosting.

My question is, are these big cams going to help or hurt the situation? I know the big cams are more NA geared, but if I simply took some overlap out of the setup by adjusting the cam gears, could this work? Anybody else thats boosted with big cams, i'd love to hear some input! Thanks

goodbye torque you will be missed lol
i have been reading up on the 404's and boost and it seems to be a controversial subject around here. one side says no bad news another says crazy cams for boost (close to the same lift as a stock gsr cams) and dial out the overlap with cam gears. i plan on going for it on my turbo LS after it is running correctly unless i sell them before i get to that point

My build will be done next week. I'll have to break in the engine before any race gas tunes are done, but I will be boosting with 404s.

GT35R, GoldenEagle 2.0L, DFE ported head, Crower 404s...

Should be interesting. I'll be posting a full build thread later.

I think those cams will DEFINITLY help get a GT35r up and huffing. I just can't see how opening the valves more is going to hurt performance??? I mean, the only thing it can do is let more air in... is that bad??

gsr cam lift isn't that close IMO:

thanks to crower.com

going a bit backwards there. any vtec head flows better than an ls head. you might cancel out your power gains....

A couple of people have run these cams on there cars in LS's and have been at 300+ hp. SO the cams do work. You will lose some low end but only a little. The b16 block will def kill some powa, but rev the **** out of it now, 9k seems about right, with like 16psi, should be a sick motor as you will be able to retain traction better then most ls turbo setups.

We are doing the 404's in a friends car now, but he has a b20 turbo.

And 9K sure feels nice on those weak rocker arms in the LS head. 9000? no thanks

My car will be revved out to 9,000 if the 35R is still making good power up there. I think the 404s will make me happy.

Here's basic specs of the head:

•DFE Enterprises port & polished head
•Ferrea Lightweight Race valves (1mm oversize intake)
•Bronze custom valve guides (shortened & tapered)
•Crower Super Heavy Duty valvesprings
•Crower Retainers
•Crower Titanium Valves
•Adjustable Rocker Arms

haha..... Just because it "can" rev, doesn't mean it "should" rev.

The only reason i'm rocking the LS head on a B16 is because I'm stealing the B16 head for my LS!! I truely believe it'll be an unhappy combination, but something different none-the-less.

I would venture to guess the best setup for what I'd do is a small cheap turbo (16g, super 60 T3, etc) with the boost cranked up real good like.
