I have an LS motor (B18a1) and i have the crower 403 cams in it, with dual springs and such....Now this winter im going to slap a turbo on my setup...and i need to know if i can use the 403 cams? Will it benefit me? or Hurt me?
I would use it for sure,
I'm using Crane 20 cams on my LS setup,
Intake @Cam .260 @Valve .472
Exhaust @ Cam .260 @Valve .472
On a mustang dyno I make 20+hp than with the stock cams, at the same boost(15psi) Ended up with 295whp on pump gaz. I lost a little on low end but give me a lot more of top end. My idle is like an Harley but I could live with that
. If you have already a set of crower 403, I would keep them. It can just be better than stock cams.

Compare those Crowers to stock VTEC cams - nothing shocking right there, gonna make excellent peak power.
Compare those Crowers to any cam with a ramp angle that doesn't cause the cam to snap into multiple fragments.

well you have them so use them....the cams will give you power (just like the guy that made 295whp said) but stock cams wont hurt you either. If you want to sell em n make money go for it. i like stock cams

Search terms "Crower" "cam" "break" "broke"
Now, what do you think?
Seems it's primarily VTEC units, but if they won't yank poorly engineered **** off the market for the good of the market, why give them any business whatsoever? Rocket Motorsports regrinds, Delta, etc... lots of decent alternatives.

Regrinds without parkerizing/nitriding/surface hardening and a BIG bump in valve spring stiffness = regrind death. If you aren't ignorant about valvespring rates, and have a properly ramped lobes *cough* Rocket *cough* then you don't kill the unhardened regrinds. It's a similar deal with the K-series and some of the early valvesprings for them... manufacturers were making them in popular B-series overkill stiffnesses, not taking into account that the K-series is a roller rocker design with less oilling needed/available, and your valvetrain/cam would **** itself quickly. THINK about what you are doing, and stupid stuff doesn't happen.
The "new style" Crower VTEC cams break, too.

Ranting and raving? Try an engineering/machining/metallurgy background.
As for your standing behind Crower's VTEC line of cams... that opinion is verifiable with a simple search of these forums. I know of two sets that have broken, purchased within the last 6-7 months, personally. Hey, maybe you're right about the "new style" being much better, but Crower is still slinging the remaining stock of their known defective units.
