i ran a y21 on my b16 turbo then an lsvtec turbo for a short time. b16 tranny is quick, but your going to hate it if you do a lot of freeway driving cus the sucka kills gas cruising in 5th.

The Integra LS is rated at 31 MPG and the ITR is rated at 30. Fifth gear has nothing to do with your gas mileage.

On a non-vtec motor, to be honest, you really arn't going to like it a whole lot. Fourth is finished at about 100 MPH, which isn't the best for a track setup, or a street setup.

Hate to say it, but your wrong. -2ci + 2 whole point in cr + less restrictive exhaust should = better gas mileage. One reason why the itr doesn't get better gas mileage is its fifth gear and final drive.

I think high rpm driving is bad for gas mileage because it creates more vac and acts as an engine brake so you need more power to overcome the increased vac.

with 23" tires shifting at 7000 rpm

this is only an estimate, it should be pretty close. I've had the ls tranny and currently the gsr tranny...the speeds are fairly close to these numbers as well.

LS tranny 4.266
1st 35 (3.23)
2nd 59 (1.90)
3rd 89 (1.269)
4th 117 (.966)
5th 158 (.714)

GSR 4.400
1st 34 (3.23)
2nd 58 (1.90)
3rd 80 (1.36)
4th 106 (1.034)
5th 139 (.787)

B16 (a2,a3,sirII) 4.400
1st 34 (3.23)
2nd 51 (2.105)
3rd 75 (1.458)
4th 98 (1.107)
5th 128 (.848)

You got owned by me when it was NA. And you will get owned by me once it's boosted. Can't wait for free pho bo man.

On a Tech note: with the traction issue you're having, the b16 tranny is going to be handful to handle.

i have a boosted b18b on a b16 tranny. I like it. Revs kinda high on the highway like 4200-4300rpm @ 80mph but its okay. At the track, you're gonna have to shift to fifth which kinda sux, but what the hell, work with what you got.

Used to have a similar setup... cable jdm lsd b16 transmission w/ b18b1. The short gears seem neat, but they are soo not matched to the rev limit/powerband of the b18b1. I wasn't happy with the setup myself.

I would say, if you have hopes of having a moderately successful track car - you will want to avoid shifting into fifth gear.

So either get 50 inch tires and a lift kit or a longer geared tranny.

LOL, ever look at a fuel map? Try to imagine lower revs but higher load then try to imagine higher revs and lower load. Which one has lower fuel values?

You have to take into account RPM involves time... as the RPMs double, the # of times the cyl fires doubles as well, so you can't just look at a map... constant fuel usage increase as revs increase even if the fuel values stay the same.
