B16A or a H22A??
Sup guys, So right now I have a Boosted D series in my Del Sol.. And it's pretty fun, But im getting ready to start a high performance class and I am going to be building a motor. I'm going to buy a new motor (H22A or B16A) And build it for boost. I know what the B16A's can do, But I really want to buy and build a H22A. I've heard that the H22A bottom ends are weak... and so on. I'm pretty sold on the H22A and will be Adding Pistons, Rods... And so on.
So basically what i need from you guys is your input.. I don't really know a whole lot about H22A motors.. So let me hear it guys. What motor would you guys go with? And why?
Thanks in Advance!

F22 vtec, my reason is because its like a giant z6. And I think that they sound bitchen when they are done rite. Ive seen them make 300whp on stock bottom end, with just some head studs and boost!!!
Between your 2 selections, I'd take the b16. But if you want a budget motor for boost, I'd take the F22! That head flows really well for boost & there are a few builds that lead the way on here
b18c1 just cant be beat as you can see from the top dawgs in this sport, and have been proven to make 500+ on stock everything
but i chose b16a because you dont have to spend the cash to go h2b

I got a b20 in my hatch and lovin it. I have a friend that has a b16 ( not sure what type ) but he tune it and was redlining a 9k and ran 14's on a non turbo motor
and now he pulled it out to build it from bottom to top and plans on running more the 30psi.
But here is a site that tells you some more about the b16 and h22, the h22 weighs 200 pounds more then your normal motor so you will have to spend a little extra in stiffing up the suspension.

I'd suggest an OBD 1 H22 and get the LSD trans ( M2B4). We put a peak boost kit on a friend's in his accord it makes 470 whp and 350 ft. lbs. (E85) Motor has head studs and a cometic head gasket.
i had a H22 before but now have a b16...the h22 is going to give you headaches and cost more to swap in than a b16...you need custom engine harness, mounts, custom axles, the cable shift linkage...its just a hassle man...even after you get all that and you wanna boost then you have to get sleeves, and machining work just to be able to boost more than 5lbs...when i had my h22 hatch it was nice and strong...but going N/A cost alot more money then turbo and thats why i went to b series
neither. f23a engine. it already has low comp; cost less and has a strong block. I think the cylinders are iron with a beefy girdle. ok lets see here... 1.6, 2.2, or 2.3? Why h2b? Its not all motor so longer gears would be key in a turbo build....right? (just my 2 cents)
