Default B16A 6765 setup... Thoughts?

Guys,

Wanted to see some thoughts on a setup I am considering going with. I have searched and found this question being asked a couple times although I have not found very many examples of cars using this setup. Here is the rundown on my eg hatch's current state:

B16A (stock bore and stock sleeves)
Eagle Rods, custom JE pistons w/ skirts moved up
B17 crank
Crower Valvetrain
ITR Cams
SK2 Intake Manifold
Full Race Back-Door Intercooler
ID 1000s
Single 255
Hondata S300

Have a Synapse V-Band top-mount being built and strongly considering the 6765 v-band inlet .82 ar. I understand that the lag will be noticeable although does anyone have any actual experience with this setup? Anyone with experience on the stock sleeves would also be great to hear from. Things I would like to see is actual spool up times, your setups , quarter mile times, power, etc.

I had a 6262e on the car and it made 422 wheel on 17lbs and 93 pump. The car has a very strong and healthy motor. My goal is for the car to break 500 on pump and 20-22lbs (maybe more) and for the car to break 10's.

Please contribute your ideas / thoughts / experiences!

Thanks

Thanks! Yeah, I'm almost positive that I am going to go with it. My motor has rods / pistons, just stock bore / sleeves. Just wanted to see if anyone had anything to say on here. Also, I most likely will be putting a gsr/ls/b20 sleeved shortblock in next year in which would be convenient if I didn't have to swap turbos out again.

I am very curious to see how it will do on the setup now.

A 62/62 seems perfect for what you want, and it even leaves room for when you want
650+whp. I dont see a need for more then the 62.

Look at this 62/65 dbb powerband!

I've thought about this. My 6262 now that is up for sale has the "e" cover (smaller compressor cover) and it also isn't ported. So I figured that I would just go ahead and upgrade since I will want the turbo down the road anyways. That and being curious to see how it would do on the car now.

It would be awesome to find out how much exactly in spool time I would be losing by going with the 6765. I'm assuming it is a few hundred rpm? Or more? It would just be nice to stick it out with the 6765 if it wasn't too bad that way I don't have to change out the turbo setup again. Plus, it is nice being different also.

Tempest racing made a comment on a thread a while ago about dealing with a few 6765 b16a setups and said something along the lines that "it worked well together." I pmed them to see if they could give me a little more info on the setups that they worked on but I didn't get a response.

That is a nice plot. I have also considered the 6265. It might be a good option for me. The turbo will be journal bearing, won't be going with the ball bearing this time around.

I would stick with the 6262 and put the money into building the fuel system a little bigger or getting the block sleeved. The 6262 will make the power level you want, only at a little higher boost level.

imo a 67mm turbo is overkill for what you want. There are a few cars that have broken into the 900's with that turbo. @ 500hp you probably wouldnt be in its efficiency range at all. Stick with the 62mm and the smaller cover.

being a 1.6 it wouldnt hurt to run a smaller cover on that turbo anyways, plus itll make 500. Just turn the boost up.

I think I pretty much made up my mind on the 6265 v-band inlet .82 with the ported / antisurge shroud (4" cover and 3" discharge). I feel that this turbo will be a middle of the road option that will make power now on the current setup without as much sacrifice of spool although it will still make plenty of power whenever I get the sleeved shortblock in / fuel upgrades.

Hopefully I can make a little more power with a little less boost than I did with the 6262e. I would love to throw the 6765 on the car just to have the turbo for next year but I don't want to be kicking my self in the *** for it either.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for your input, also.

For such big turbo option choices, that's the best middle of the road.
