B16 Turbo question

Default B16 Turbo question

im building a b16 with JE 9:1 compression pistons and im wondering if stock rods would be ok with top boost at 12 pounds maybe 10? i plan on putting on some ARP rod bolts also anyone have any comments or suggestions on this it would be greatly apreciated

By the time you get the ARP's for them and spend 40 bucks to have forged pistons fitted to them you're like half way to a set of eagles. Just get the eagles.

i was thinking about it but i wanna save money if possible thats why im wondering if anyone has run stock rods with that much boost ever or not recommended?

yes people have run that much stock, i think TUNERTOYS has some inexpensive yet good rods for around 250 or so

Is that 150 bucks going to feel great in your pocket if your stock rods let go and it sets you back another grand to rebuild it? In the context of like a full-race kit vs. pieced together JY kit, then yeah, that's a good place to save money. But if you're rebuilding your motor for the long term don't be a cheap bastard, save for another week or two, and put eagle rods in it.

yeah you got a good point.... im checking out tuner toys now they got some pretty cheap eagles im illing to drop money on thanks for the feed back
