Default b16 turbo problem coolant loss

i have a bone stock b16 with a treadstone turbokit 50trim turbo tuned on 10lbs daily driven

i installed this kit about two months ago and i have had no problems with it untill about three weeks ago

the car used to idle ok it was a little up and down but would always idle between 800 and 1000

in the last three weeks the car has slowly been loosing coolant out of the radiator its self but the overflow stays the same level its not leaking anywhere that i can see by looking on the ground

i have a slim fan wired in to run all the time and today while sitting at a light the car slowley started to over heat but as soon as i started moving it cooled right off im not sure if this was because of low fluid or not

the radiator hoses have a lot of pressure on them and seam more then normal

its never overheated on my before even when driving extremely hard for a extended time

the thing that has been bugging me latley is that the idle has been extremely eradicate slowly increasing to 2 grand up and down from 900 to 2500 and so on and so forth

car still drives decently (not like it used to when i first got it tuned) but is still plenty fast when boosted

if anyone has any clue please help

drain plug broken? would explain unnoticeable loss in coolant.

sorry, i meant on the radiator. i think theres a gasket on the drain plug too. might loose coolant under boost due to all that pressure. i would double check just to make sure.

the radiator is brand new the setup is in a crx so i had to purchace a half sized radiator but it does have a slimfan wired to run all the time and before this ive never had an overheating problem

i think i might have a thermostat problem due to the fact that it was overheating when sitting still but as soon as i took off it went right down

huh? boosting doesnt increase the pressure of your cooling system. unless of course he is having a headgasket/head lifting issue. thats a whole different story

OP, i'd check the rad cap first, sounds like it isnt opening allowing pressure out into the overflow bottle. also you need to pressure test your cooling system and find the leak, its not disappearing into thin air. you are probably overheating because you have low coolant or there is air getting into the system.

are both radiators hoses getting equally hot? if yes then its not the thermo.

well i deff have a thermostat problem but i still think it is a little more then just that i am going to check for leaks tommorow when i put the thermostat in beucase i was riding on the expressway at 65mph and it started to get way hot on me i was just driving normal and i quickly turned the interior heat on and it went right back to normal

so i am going to install the thermostat tommorow and preasure test the system

ck your thermostat and get back with us. makes sure you check the hoses, that they are both equally hot with pressure

replaced the thermostat and found that it was leaking around the thermostat housing and one of the small heater hoses
i replaced the heater hose and the thermostat housing had a bolt broken off so i replaced that

also found out that the weird idling is my iacv so im going to go to the pick and pull and find one and replace that

i hope that this was all my leaking problems i will know in a few days when i check the level of the rad and ill report back to see if there is any more leaks

that's exactly what i was thinking it was, especially the iacv that's common.

I put my thermostat in once and did not line up with the little lip and mine did the exact same. im sure those are your problems

try cleaning the iacv. most of the time they are just too gunky and can be cleaned with some brake clean.
