B16 Hydro Tranny or replace my Stock GSR tranny with the same?
hey guys,
my gsr tranny is going out, and im thinking about going to a b16 hydro tranny, for the shorter gearing, im supercharged and my specs are below by my signature... should i go with the b16 tranny, or stay and replace with a gsr tranny because it may be better for my S/C to have more time for boost? any suggestions?
thanks

yoda

did you search??? Seriously this is asked every day. If you plan on drag racing the car and don't care about driving it much on the highway then go with the b16 if you want some more top end stay with the gsr.

when you say top end, do you mean just mph or actual acceleration in the higher gears?

i noticed you have a lsd in your gsr tranny, correct me if im wrong but i was under the impression that gsr and b16 lsds were not interchangable. it might be worth getting another gsr tranny so you can swap in the lsd.

Here is a quick example for you.
My gsr tranny at 80 mph is at about 4000 rpms if I remember correctly.
My ls tranny at 80 mph is at about 3200 rpms I think.
The b16 tranny at 80 mph will be above 4000 not sure of the rpms b/c I never owned a b16 tranny.
