b16 boost power questions...
I am looking to start a new project and have done some searching and havent found what i really want to know.....nomatter what it will be in a 88-91 hatch or rex.....it needs to be a daily driver.....would a stock b16 be able to handle 300+ or - crank hp.....and how would a b16 do with arp rod bolt, arp head studs, thicker headgasket? what type of tuning would be needed? would a vafc or safc work or would i need to go to standalone?? thanks for any info....

Re: b16 boost power questions... (B18TurboEF)
You'll get a different answer from every person. 300 crank is very acheivable from a stock internal b16a. It's not needed that you upgrade the head gasket, but a Cometic wouldn't be a bad idea. Personally I don't think it would be necissary to do the rod bolts or head studs either for 300 crank. As far as tuning, I would imagine with the right setup, you could reach 300 crank with the afc hack.

Re: b16 boost power questions... (Unsung EM1)
how good do you want your car to preform, just think you spen t2 or 3 g's on a turbo kit to go cheap on the most important part. tuning is everything. I personaaly feel all you need was a new oem head gasket head studs, and boost like 10 psi and get like a hondata s100 or 200 and get that tuned and you will be extremely happy. If you want rod bolts which are not needed you should just build the motor because you would have to damn near pull everything apart to get there.

Re: b16 boost power questions... (BoostedsiR)
i dont plan on spending 2-3 grand on a kit when i can just piece one together.....i was thinking of tuning it with ghettodyne but pw0 and pr3 arent supported i believe.....what kind of power could the motor handle with forged pistons and rods? just a rough estimate.....and would an ls motor be better under the same boost???
