Default audi 1.8t

hahah, my friend works at a shop in maryland and a 1.8t came in. the pistons hit the valves so they were bent, im sure pistons were fucked, and there probably is head damage. instead of paying for an overhaul, i think the dude just got a used engine or something. anywaymy friends boss said he can take the turbo if he wants. he did take it and he shows it to me. it was so cute, so tiny. we went and compared it to my t3/t4, i think the whole compressor can fit in my compressor intake hole. that **** is so damn small. just thought ide share

Actually, you'd be exactly right. Those cars weren't designed to be sub-10 sec. 1/4 mile terrors, they use turbochargers which will provide the right blend of drivablity and low end torque that a typical 50 year old wants in this 1.8t cabrio.

so i was thinking, since they are so small, is there anyway to put that on like a lawn mower engine, and make a bad *** go kart, or will that not work

A typical lawn mower engine is about 120CC's. I ran a K03 turbo on my GSX-R 600 and it made full boost by about 5500 RPM's. That's higher than most lawn mowers even spin, it would never spool up fully.

Let me say it again. It didn't make an appreciable amount of boost till ~5500 RPM's on a motor 6 times the size of one you're thinking of putting a turbo on. A K03 would never make any positive manifold pressure on a 100CC lawnmower engine, end of story.

i remember reading somewhere that the 1.8T was designed to have the turbo spool early and give nice midrange, and the additional flow from the 5 valve head to offset the falling boost up top. this makes like 2 powerbands (one from the turbo and one from the head/cams).

The K03 is a nice turbo for around 200hp. I make around 200hp / 250 tq at ~20psi in my Audi 1.8T A4.

I get full boost ~3000rpm and it starts droping before 6000rpm

platinum.

Why are you calling that turbo a Hoslets? it's a garrett turbo. look at the housings. the best they do is just make a hybrid that Garrett does not fro the factory, but in general it's a garrett turbo to me.
