Default ATTN::SOHC GREDDY USERS---CHECK OUT MY GANGSTA ENGINE MANAGEMENT!!!

Whats up all....Just figure I would post up my gangsta engine management that seems to be working very well...The car is a 94 dx coupe with a d16z6 Greddy turbo, blue box,255 lph high pressure fuel pump, aem adj. fp regulator, msd btm, stock injectors, and a plx wideband...I started out by boosting 5.5 psi on the blue box with an a/f ratio of 11.6...Its funny to hear all the people talk trash about how the blue box makes your car PIG RICH rich with the blue box WHEN 11.6 is not really that bad at all....Anyway, I upped the boost to 7 psi with stock fuel pressure and got a a/f ratio of 12.2-12.5, after that, I bolted on a adj. fp regulator and added about 3 psi of base pressure, and upped boost to 9 psi as well as turned back the distributor to 13 deg btdc. So far so good, the car was pulling strong and running well (even w/ 185k on the clock. ) So I started to get a little more ballzy and added the in tank fuel pump and btm, upped the base fp 2-4 more psi, and cranked the wic up to 12 psi.... Everything still holding up fine with massive beatings and highway rapings...My a/f stays consistently in the mid 11s, and the btm is set at .50....My only engine mods are arp headstuds and a new oem headgasket...I think the car will be good for easy mid 12s at 110 plus on slicks...I will keep people posted with 1/4 mile runs...

well atleast you are doing it smart. And not just strapping it on and turning up the boost. It works when all things are taken care of. 185K sounds like fun.

Oh 185k is fun...This motor has been the biggest trooper I have ever seen...It used to be in my friends del-sol who melted a valve spraying a 100 shot on it, and then purposely tried blowing it up on 3 cylinders and could not do it... sohc tuff!!!

My brother has the Greddy kit on his civic. We ran FMU and walbro 255 messed with timing and his car lasted from 130,000 to 160,000 and we ran 10-14 pounds of boost throughout that span.

I know Hondata and everything is better but FMU's and Blue box's are not as unreliable as everyone makes them seem on here.
Props to another believer is cheap engine management.
BTW: We put the kit on right when he got his license so basically it was beat the hell out of every one of those miles..

Cant beat the driveability of the blue box either when comparing it to the check valve setup or the vafc/safc hack!!!

hey man i got that same kit on my d15b7 93 dx coupe, did urs come as a non-intercooler kit? well that's cool to hear that your motor has 185k on it, i thought mine was a lil high to start boosting at 157k makes me feel better
oh i also have the walbro 255lph and i just got it all hooked up on sat. and am very happy with it

What's gangsta about it is that you took the time to set it up properly. Have wideband, will travel. Goodtimes.

Now for a bit of blue box bashing, I have seen the blue box run the Prelude kit richer than 10:1 above 5k rpm at 7 psi

All greddy kits come w/o an intercooler...

I know, but everyones always ragging on "cheap fuel management",...BTW, with the prelude kit, it sounds as if all that needs to be done is up the boost a psi or two which would lean it out some....Again not the 100% proper way to tune, but may be a little better than 10:1 ....
