Is there any way you can use the Hondata datalogger to see if any timing is being taken out under boost? (due to the knock sensor and IAT sensor) I (and all other turbo luders) am wondering if the intake temp is too high, the ecu might revert to a less aggressive timing map to be safe, and effectively killing power.

Then again, if you are using a civic ecu, and turbo civics/tegs don't have a problem making power with their stock ecu, the prelude power problem probably isn't ecu related...

i'm running a p28 ecu now.

knock sensor disabled. Iat sensor is running normally (temperature wise, it doesn't get very hot).

i don't have the datalogging, but doug did when we tuned the car. The difference in temperature from my car, to a supercharged type r was 30-50 degree F
difference. (the supercharger being higher)

its not a timing problem or fueling problem anymore...sigh...next step is to check cam timing and then turbo sizing.

Tim

Did Doug have any thoughts on the low power output?

Is there anyway you can disable vtec and see what happens?

doug thought the power output was ok. I think i'm the only one running around like a mad man going "why why why!"

we never tried disabling vtec, but we could try next time. It wasn't even mentioned by the dyno operator because we saw that the hp kept rising.

I am wondering why, why and I don't even know how my car is running anymore. It could be better, it could be worse. Actually, I took measurements of the IAT while driving and it seems rather high. I cleaned my IC, and the fins seem to be intact. It must be the 90 degree weather down here in SD...... I've read somewhere that the turbos heat the air to @ 250 degrees F, that isn't too good for our cars if the IC is too small, piping is too long, dyno is too expensive..... Oh well..... I love my car!

The more I think about it, getting 230-240 hp out of 7 psi on an H22 isn't bad. I looked at all the charts on importreview, they have a bunch of b18c turbo motors getting around 210-220 hp at 7 psi. The b18c and h22 are about 20 hp different stock so...the numbers are starting to seem right to me. Now, put the boost up to 10 psi and you will be getting some BIG numbers.

For some odd reason, I had in my mind that turbo b18c motors would have about 250 hp at 7 psi. Not so.

yea i hear what you're saying. The #'s game has been kind of inflated lately.....but once in awhile you see that post that says "i got 250hp!!!!" and its a gsr or si running 7psi....i've seen a guy do that, very cool...

I will boost to 9psi when I dyno the car and feel that all is running right. I have gone to 10psi for a few seconds on a deltagate spike. Well, when the car is dynoed and sound, then I'll turn up the boost.... Bigger IC, remove at least 4' of turbo piping, ex manifold, injectors, 3" downpipe, more money for dynos.......
