knock sensor?
why do they delete the knock sensor when chipping an ecu?is the knock sensor not important?hate for all my money to go to waste, but i did it because my car does not come with one stock and i was avoiding wiring the knock in even though it wouldnt be hard

Re: knock sensor?
The knock sensor is used to adjust ignition timing on stock ecu. Basically the ecu advances the timing until knocking starts, or retards the timing if knocking is sensed. If the chipped ecu doesn't take that input into account then the sensor is not needed. The chipped ecu might go by look-up tables based on the other sensor inputs and have no compensation in its algorithm for knock, so no sensor is needed.
