Out of all of u with LS turbos how many of you have raced close to stock LS1 Trans Am's and Camaros?
Im abit dissapointed with my car right now but im not really sure if I should be.. I raced a 99TA with exhaust and a few "free mods" as he called it ..from a 40 punch and id say by 120 he was ahead by 3.5 cars.. I was on 8psi and stock clutch.. I think the clutch was hurting me alot along with my exhaust.. but is it normal for me to loose that bad.. I figured on 8psi I would at least hang with him.. Im hoping to be able to blame this on the exhaust and clutch and when I get those in it will be a little closer of a race..

I raced a modified Z28 LT-1 at 6.5 psi (or slightly less), and beat him by 2 car lenghts in a near-1/4 mile run.
Then he got new tires, and I got my boost controller working. A week later, we raced in a different place and he beat me by about 1/2 car length in a 0-100 mph run. I had it at 8 psi this time. I was having bad problems with the clutch slipping going into 2nd gear, though.....so this is why I think I lost.
Anyway, he says that he has beaten stock LS-1s before by about a car length, so this should be pretty close to racing a LS-1.

your stock clutch is probably slipping some, that won't help
TA's arent slow, a friend of mine has a 99 (i think) TA with just an exhaust, he ran 13.4 on true street tires

i can smoke TA's and camaros with my sohc turbo....so an ls/turbo shouldnt have a problem. Unbolt your exhaust (just remove the cat
) and get a new clutch. I bet you will see a huge diff.
liam
note: before i get flammed here...i currently live in colorado at 5400 feet. Mustang cobra can maybe run a 15.0 or 14.9 in the quarter...Z28/TA runs high/mid 14's. My civic N/A at sea level 15.7 same setup here 17.9. BIG BIG diff. Swap on a turbo on a civic = king on the streets!!
I pulled a 13.6 @ 105 here in colorado on street tires with my sohc (thats like a mid 12 in cali).

yeah.. dont worry.. your car has soo much potential.. later on get some forget internals, get that clutch taken care off, get a 3" exhaust and give him another run from 40mph+ hahaha.. but SS's are one fast ****'s that should be f#*@ed with unless you really got some ballz under your hood.. that car outta of the box is like what mid 13's? imagine adding some "free flowin" bolt on's as they would call it.. or even worse turbo/supercharges..
similar thing happened to my bro.. with is 00 celica GTS.. ran into a stock looking z28 so he started reving on him while the guy in the camaro just smiled.. lights turns green and the camaro had already pulled like 10 cars ahead! so he caught up to him and asked him to pull over to see what he had.. guy had a fully built turbo motor.. and bone stock looking outside.. you never know who you will run into on the street these days..

105 mph trap at 5400 ft is equivalent to 112mph at sea level (using NHRA correction factors)
So your Si must be putting down ~250whp from simply slapping a turbo on your stock sohc? I'm not doubting that you did it, but to suggest that it's that simple is really misleading

i raced my first mild camaro ss, new conv. vette, 94 tt supra in the 1/8th this past friday. they all would holeshoot me about 1-2 carlengths and at about midtrack i would literally pull right past them. the launches were bad (2.1, 60')on my part because i wasn't on my new drag radials but stock 13's. i raced a camaro ss and ta at the street races and i have no trouble except with one built up ss and it was bad-*** out of control. your ls is heavy. i have the greddy gsr kit (7psi) on a stock ls hybrid automatic. on the street, going from 40 on up is my strength and that is when i pull most cars.

i haven't 1/4 et'd yet but should definitely be low 13...maybe better. i am going to go to gainesville fla and time this month and i will definitely put my results up because i am very curious. i did a lot better than what others including myself expected of my car. it surprises a lot of people. i know a guy who had the same setup but he had a built auto tranny and he was running either 9 or 12 psi and he had mid 12's i believe in a full interior...he since has been running a auto h23 turbo. supposed to be 11's.
