attn diy efi tuners, quick question about using spoon as basemap
for all you diy efi tuners out there. i was thinking about using a spoon bin as a basemap for its aggressive out-of-boost ignition maps. of course, i will be pulling timing as i approach the vacuum-to-boost transition. also, i will be start off with fuel on the very rich side and tune it out from there. my reasoning is that this would help responsiveness and help to spool turbo. any thoughts? thanks.

if you do it right, its not a bad idea. I think that PHiZ did something similar to that, but not with a spoon map.

Re: attn diy efi tuners, quick question about using spoon as basemap (rjardy)
so i went ahead and started work on a basemap. but since i gotta wait for the weather to get better before i can do testing, i figured i would run this by everyone and see if any of you have any comments. so here is what i did:
- first i imported the spoon maps to a p72 (manually, pita)
- then i went to work on the fuel first
- enrichened the last column by 5% then added 120% efficiency
- then used 49% for 550cc injectors
- also added 10% back to boost columns (to start off rich and pull fuel later)
- next was ign timing, first retarded the last vacuum column 1 degree
- then retard per lb of boost was 1.5, .75, .75, .5, .5
thats about it, any comments/criticisms/suggestions? thanks.
