apexi power fc opinions
http://www.apexi-usa.com/news.asp?ID=37
I just bought this turbo and intercooler kit and have been looking all over for something that would manage my fuel and everything. Do you think that this is worth it or does anyone actually have it installed and has any opinions on it. I know it costs like over a thousand but I'm willing to pay that much to get my car running well.
I've read articles on rx-7's with this and they say that if it has the base maps already in it, then its pretty much 90% tuned for you already.

Some places sell and modify the fuel and timing maps to your specific upgrades, so that way you can plug the PFC in and have a somewhat decent running car, all you have to do is make minor changes. I'm not exactly sure if those places adjust the BASE map or not, BTW the BASE map *can* be adjusted but you require special equipment that APEXI only sells to dealers or something. I do think you can adjust you BASE maps if you have the "datalogit" program, which is a program created by a private party.
go to http://www.rx7club.com check out the ECU forums and go to the APEXI PFC forum. Yes they have a forum specifically for the PFC! they also have a downloadable PDF manual of the RX7's PFC. the timing system will be different because the RX7 has a ingition leading map and a ingition trailing map. (RX7's have 2 sparkplugs per rotor chamber and they do not fire both at the same time.)
EDIT: I believe that the program sold by Apexi to dealers that allows you to change base maps is the "Power Excel" program.

cha ching.....
IIRC the Haltech also has datalogging but the Apexi PFC does not (unless you get the datalogit and a cheap laptop).

Re: apexi power fc opinions (ED9Hybrid)
I have one...very easy to use once its tuned....the tuning is pretty hit and miss unless you have access to a dyno with an o2 sensor...the rest is cake! depending on what you have (engine) , I can probably get you one for about $1050 (commander and ECU)...
you can by an otional boost controller that ties into the ECU...and of course the VTEC controller is built in and you can control or change just about any parameter on your engine (injector size, vtec point, idle RPM, rev limit...etc..) ....no turbo timer..

Re: apexi power fc opinions (MiraiZ)
anyone know how much the optional boost controller costs?
and I apologize for using any incorrect terms, I'm still doing a lot of research and trying to learn as much as possible.
Also I have an automatic, can I still use this because I'm assuming the ecu is what controls the shift points on automatics.
