Re: anyone selling a maxrev downpipe compatible with a.c? (dustin)
i can too, but since you've got that tig welder...
i need one that's 2 1/2 with a flexpipe...
need to reinstall my a/c compressor, so it's got to clear that
on a side note, can you tell me where you ordered your tig welder again?
i need to pick one up soon...
thanks!

You don't want the first two. They both have SUPER low duty cycles and pull tons of amperage out of the wall.
The Maxstar 140 is an awesome machine, get that
You can get filler rod from a local welding shop, or I get it for a lot cheaper at http://weldingdirect.com

I use ER70S6 for mild steel, and 308L for stainless. I bought a 10lb box of the ER70S6 and still have a lot left.

Hehe, it can weld aluminum in reverse polarity with large tungsten (3/16"). Hard to weld aluminum thicker than about 3/16" with it though... Compared to stainless and mild steel, aluminum is hard to weld.
I almost exclusively use 1/16" filler and 1/16" tungsten. I use 2% thoriated or lanthanated tungsten for almost everything. For DCEP (reverse) on aluminum try 3/16" lanthanated tungsten.
I wouldn't buy the 1/16" lanthanated tungsten off welding-direct though, because I bought a bunch of it and it sucks. I can't keep a stable arc with it. The 3/16" works good for aluminum though (lanthanated can handle more heat than thoriated). I'm happiest with 1/16" anchor brand thoriated tungsten that I buy at my local welding shop... nice stable arc to low amperages... I use it for everything 120A and under... (20A or below I use the next size down tungsten else I can't maintain a stable arc)

ok, so from weldingdirect...
i should pick up some
1/16" filler rods of mild steel and stainless...
and 3/16" filler rods of aluminum...
where's the 3/16" lanthanated tungsten for aluminum on welding direct?
i'll see if i can pick up some 1/16" anchor brand thoriated tunsgten online somewhere....

You'll also want to get some gas lenses and gas lens cups for the torch. (Gas lenses own you!). I think the welder comes with a 17series torch... so you'll need
gas lens collet bodies (for every size tungsten you plan on using)
collets (for every size tungsten you plan on using)
gas lens cups (for whatever size you want, big is good)
gas lens insulator (little plastic white ring that lets the torch seal against the gas lens collet body)
If you get confused IM me, DustinAdler.
