Default anyone running a smic?

i have a dc2, and was thinking about putting a dsm smic in mine, for the sleeper look, but im not sure how it's gonna look, or how efficient it's gonna be... anyone have any experience with them and how much was you boosting? BTW, how much boost can they handle?

I was thinking about doing the same thing when I turbo'd my car. I read up on them and I hear the get heat soak problems pretty easily. They are perfect for the sleeper look, but I don't think they are too efficient. I guess it depends on how much boost you want to run. Get a fmic and paint it black, it will be real hard to see unless someone is up close and looking for it.
A friend on here had the smic and upgraded to a fmic and it made a huge difference in how the car ran. It was just a good upgrade to get some more ponies out of it.

Just my $.02

Good luck!!

Are you going to put 300 hp through the D series? Is there any internals done to it? I hope because that isn't going to last at all!! I would really suggest a JRC FMIC or something similar.
Did John tune your car? I remember him telling me about you I think.

300 hp through a built Y7, yeah John did tune my car, did a great job too. I just don't have money for a front-mount after how much this motor cost me to build so this sidemount is going to have to do.

I'm doing the same thing. Oh and the comment about sidemounts not being efficient is completely false (in fact its completely opposite, front mounts flow, side mounts are good for efficiency). I think I'm gonna take my endtanks and weld new ends on mine though (>2.25", OEM is like 1.75"), supposedly DSM'rs gain quite a bit of efficiency from this mod.

Shotpeened and re-conditioned LS rods, Vitara pistons. I'm going to try to get 300 out of my 48/60 T3 but don't know if I'll be able to do it with a stock map sensor.

you will need a 3bar with a T3. You would be running way more boost than a stock map sensor can handle to make 300whp.

And to the thread starter.... i would just get a JRC 6" or something. you can get them for like $120 in the classifieds and paint it flat black for stealth.
