Default anyone know about german turbos?

K26? K27? alright, my friends uncle has some left over turbos from his porche, one is a K26, the other is a K27.. My friend has an LS and wants to go turbo, his uncle said hed give him one of the turbos if he can use it.. My question is, does anyone know the CFM on these turbos or where to find out? I was looking at the K26 and the exhaust housing looked like the size of a T3, but the compressor looked kinda small, unlike our hybrids.. It had a 4 bolt flange that *looked* like it would bolt up to a T3 flange and the downpipe was a 4 bolt also so it would need a custom flange.. just curious if anyone knows anyhting about these..

porsche turbo's are wayy too big for a honda engine unless you're going for big, big numbers. im guessing those came off of 944's.

they are not stock turbos, but they are off a 1976 930, basically a 911 turbo but he gets full boost (14psi) at 1800 RPM's so they are not that big..

Don't forget that those 930s have TWO of those turbos on a 2.7 (?) liter engine so they're sure as hell not too big to run one of them on a honda.

im not sure of the displacement of the motor but it only has 1 turbo.. but just by looking at it visually, the compressor is definitly smaller then my T04e..

I believe the only single-turbo porsches were the 944 or 968 turbo. As far as I know anything with two cylinder banks (ie boxer 6) had two turbos.

I posted a question like this awhile ago because I picked up a KKK K26 that I plan to use. The 4-bolt flange doesn't seem like it would bolt up to a T3 style 4-bolt. The flange on the K26 is kinda rounded a little and not a like a straight rectangle. So does any one know is this turbo is good up to 8100 RPM on a B-series motor?

The problem with 3K turbos is that they do not make their compressor maps available to the public. Period. They're just not out there. So the only way to really do any comparison is try to match the mass airflow and boost of the car that it was originally used on. No small feat since there are probably about 10 different K26 trims out there.

I know that the Audi S3 with 1.8 liter engine and 0.8 Bar boost runs the KKK 20 Turbo. Too small for big nuzmbers. This turbo spools up at about 2000rpm, but is loosing power above 5500rpm

I guess the search is engine is still broke because I have made many K26 post. The K26 comes in many sizes that range from a T28 to a T4/T3. The average size K26 is in the T3 range. SARD, Blitz, and Top fuel kits use various K26's but the K23 2470 and 2670 variants have made 300whp on many Honda's. The larger K26 K3T is used on the Top Fuel CTR to make 470whp. The biggest problem is it is difficult to reference OEM KKK part numbers with the aftermarket part numbers.

K27's should only be used full race Honda's since the compressor is in the Mitsu T78/T88 and Garrett T61 (and up) range. A straight K27 would be a dog on a Honda that isn't boosting atleast 1.5bar. Over here K27's are reservered for 2.5 liter and above engines.

The Porsche it is off of is a 1976, 930.. The car was only built in 76 and 77, it has the same basic body design of the 911 turbo(even has the turbo badge on the back) it was limited production(1200 per year) and specifically built so that porsche could have a race car in one of the racing circuits, I cant remember the name, but they had to make at least 1000 in order to use that car in the circiut, but they discountinued it after 77 because turbos were outlawed from that specific competition.. The car wiegh's about 2200lbs and I believe with the 2nd newest turbo(K27) it was making about 450bhp. but the K27 spooled up on that thing by 1800.. and thats on a 7.5:1 compression ratio engine.

so I figure that turbo may even still be too large, but I have a feeling his K26 is probably one of the larger of the K26's which might actually work out pretty nice.

My K26 also came off of a Porsche. What other Porsches had K26's?
