That was a joke Geoff. Getting everything balanced cost waaayyyy too much over here. I'll probably get a fluidampr and these parts are mainly for my high revving circuit/touge beater.

from what i understand, they dampen out vibrations that are there even when the entire rotating assembly is balanced. someone correct me if im wrong but the combustion event creates a ton of torsional vibration, which only can be lessened/eliminated with a dampner on the crank.

What a POS that's only good to beat your crank/bearings to death....BTW,,getting your crank, clutch and pulley balanced together will do nothing cause there is nothing to absorb the normal vibrations a engine would put outt...do this, get your crank, rods, pistons, flywheel balanced together and then put a fluiddamper on it

i'm no engineer, but everything i've read agrees with that.

short cranks with the fewest cylinders are the best-case scenario.

the old air-cooled vw's never came with any harmonic balancer, including production up thru the '70's... but the six-cylinder corvair motors did have factory harmonic balancers.

of course this doesn't have much to do with how well you balance the rotating assembly of the engine... it's all about twisting the crank around from firing the cylinders, and the resultant harmonic frequencies.

to get an idea of how bad harmonics can be, take a look at this url: http://www.slcc.edu/schools/hu...tions/

here is some more info on harmonic balancers: http://www.supras.com/~riemer/....html

We've been road racing the b18c for a coupe of years. Prolonged high revs definetly have it's affects on harmonic distortions of a crankshaft. After 2 blown engines due to not having proper damping is a hard lesson.

The only bad thing about the ATI is that it doesnt dampen at all frequencies, while the fluidamper does. Right now fluid damper was just bought out by another company so once the deal is done I am sure you'll see these more often.

The Auto Advancve single pulley setup is currently used by many N1 race teams here in Japan. But since I am NOT a band wagon ***** when it comes to parts and since I do not have an N1 race team budget I am looking to find a proven damper that will not deterioate like OEM units and will ensure that my engine doesn't emplode from self induced vibrations. I have experience with Fluidampr V8 and V6 units but I did not know they produce Honda dampers. Fluidampr will get my business because of previous experiences.

Ah.. I think they already talked about this.

What elce is there to compair? Price maybe??
The fluidamper has been around for much longer so it will proly last longer as well.
