Default Anybody use MF2 for Fuel management?

I just got done installing a MF2 fuel injecter controller. It controls 2 extra 400cc injecters that are in the intake pipe just before the TB. I am having a few problems with it.

This system will work on a 2,3,4,6 or 8 cylinder motor. There is a "jumper" that you put on the correct pins. I can only get it to read the correct RPM when I have it on the 8 cylinder pins. When it's on the 4 cylinder pins it reads double the RPM that my tach is reading.

There is a light that lights up when the injecters come on and it's not lighting up.

The light for that comes on when I go into boost was set for 5lbs and I turned that down so it comes on at 1lb of boost.

I don't think the injecters are coming on at all.

Anybody ever use one of these before? I bought this from sombody on Honda-Tech. Any links with more info? I have searched but all I get is places that sell F Max kits.

Any help you can give me would be great

I used one on an old setup of mine. I bought one used and was having problems with it as well. I called up FMAX and had them check it out and program it for my setup. They discovered the unit was faulty. They got a replacement for me from England. I only ended up paying $50 for them to program it for me. The replacement was free!

do you have it hooked up to a map sensor?

I have a little experience with it...

Yes, I am using a MSD 3 Bar MAP sensor. That seems to be working. I checked it with a multitester and it seemed to be reading the correct voltage.

so the inject lite comes on, but you dont think that the injectors are spraying?

You have two main variables, the gain and the threshold. It sounds to me like you adjusted the threshold. Have you tried playing with the gain?

because the gain adjusts how much fuel overall gets injected... so even though you have all of the RPM dependent adjustments, the gain moves the entire curve up or down.

I dont know if this helps any....

The green light that lights up when the injecters come on is NOT lighting up. I have tried turning the gain all the way up(12 turns) and all the way down. I have watched the AF gauge I have, and it does not get any richer when I go in to boost. I was running a 8-1 Vortech FMU and that thing would bury the AF meter all the way to the end when I hit boost. There is a "jumper" for FI or Water injection. I have moved that to both "jumpers" and also tried running without it and still the green light is NOT on.

By the way, that is one badass Civic you have there. Are you going to be at Cordova Raceway for the NOPI race on June 5-6 ? I am going to be there, maybe we could meet up.

Hey, are you sure you have all of the wires hooked up correctly... The problem your having just doesn't sound like it has something to do with the unit itself because if everything is hooked up stright you should see the injector light coming on...

But if you think your wiering is all good I would call turbonetics sence fmax was bought out by them and tell them you need to talk to the fmax rep, I had problems with a customers unit being way too rich one time and the guy the (super nice) helped me out a lot with the unit.

Btw I will be at cordova on sunday, 92 charcoal hatch big frontmount look for me.
What are u gona be driving?

I have checked and rechecked the wiring and it all looks good.(there are not really that many wires) I have been reading the instruction book and they talk about a "adjustable manifold pressure switch". It looks like this should have come with the kit, but I bought this used and didn't get it. It looks like you don't use it when you are useing the 3BAR MAP. Does that sound right?

I am going to Cordova just to watch. I know Brent Rau and I have not seen his car run yet , so we are looking forward to seeing him do well.

yep thats right, have you tried turning the set screws inside the unit to get the injecotors to come on??

If none of that works maybe you should contact the guy at turbonetics...

Make sure that the RPM sensor is hooked up to the right wire on the distributor. without that that hooked up right, it won't work..

when you rev your engine, you should see the rpm LEDs move. Don't mess with the pots too much. Too much will run you waaaaaaaaaaaaaay rich. Also..you may need to adjust the sensitivity screw. Looks like this:

Might want to check out this page:

By the way, I gave up on my ERL MF2 years ago...it was too unstable and sprayed fuel too unevenly

I have checked everything. The red RPM lights work and are set to the correct RPM to match the motor. The red light comes on when I go into boost. I have turned the pressure imput threshold potentionmeter all the way in and all the way out. No matter what I have tried the injecters will not inject any fuel.

I think I am just going to have to admit I got screwed on this thing and junk it. TurboEdit here I come.

the adjustable pressure sensor is referring to the map sensor.

did you try playing with the gain ****?

I'll see if I can find all of my notes on that thing... I had at one point written down the correct voltages from a few test points to make sure that all of the ***** were set right...

the question is... do I still have the notes? I'll try to look for them.

give me a day or two before you junk it...

OT: thanks for the compliments... I dont think that I'll make it to the cordova event... Im still working out a few bugs... (I dont have as much free time to work on the race car as I thought that I would this summer)

I have tried the gain adjustment and still no luck. If you still have your notes that would be great.

O.T. Free Time, whats that?
