i've been thinking since i'm not shooting for 300whp, that a front mount isnt really that necessary for my goals and that a DSM side mount will do the job just fine, and add to the sleeper look. maybe put a small motorcycle pusher fan on it also so it will help with cooling

my goal is to hit 230-235whp with everything listed below

my setup:

greddy 15g kit
12psi
HKS SSQV
DSM 450's
ported y8 IM
maxbore b16 TB
zex 59300 cam
kteller 2.5" dp
kteller 3" exhaust

I know someone that is using one on their greddy kit. Works...but obviously it's not as good as a FMIC. She is running around 13 psi on stock y7 with z6 head and it runs strong with the kit but she has a DSM turbo too something like a 16G. FMIC's aren't really that much and you can even get an anodized black one if you want to go the sleeper route. Whatever you want to do but yes the side mounts work.

front mount = 90 + tubing

and i mean its just a greddy kit...and dsm guys are running 300+whp on stock side mounts before they heatsoak

with the proper flow i think it can be just as efficient as a front mount with what im going to be running

Yeah man like I said she is running around 13 psi on stock block and seems to be working alright. I just woundn't run too much hp with it because its efficiency isn't too great. The thing I'm saying is an FMIC will give you cooler IAT's meaning more power...just something to think about when comparing the two and like 100 bucks. I mean if you're spening how much on a Greddy kit and then worry about a 100 dollar difference on a piece that can optimize you're kit. But I know what you're doing I was originally gonna use a DSM side mount too on my first build but opted not too because you most likely won't be happy with it in the long run. What I've learned in the past couple years with cars is...do it right the first time because it will save you money in the long run.

Oh and by the way you will need tubing with the side mount as well...so basically you're saving 70 bucks....worth it? don't know

actually i can use the piping that comes with the greddy kit..it bolts right up. and couplers are $2-3 each.

i'm gonna try it, if it doenst work. then im not losing that much money

you'd be a sav if you made a removable box around it for icewater. (been wanting to do this for a while).

oh sorry I wasn't aware that the greddy kit came with IC piping for a side mount. My bad...well yeah then try it and see how it works for ya. Where are you going to mount it? My friend has hers mounted in the passenger side wheel well area. If you do this make sure you cut some small holes in the inner fender well to ensure proper air flow through the IC.
