Default another update on my turbo setup....

well, after installing an inline fuel pump (with the help of honda-tech) i have noticed an increase in power, boosting 4psi. before i had the inline, and only 3psi, i raced my friends gsr.... i got burned by him severely. after he drove my car tonight, there wasnt a doubt in his mind that i could beat him and he was so impressed he wanted to drive my car at the track next weekend.

while taking it for a test run we ran into a few people who were more then eager to race. a porsche boxster came up and picked a fight with us. we pulled on him pretty good and when we stopped at a red light, he didnt want to do anything the second time around. next up was a newer vw 4door jetta on the juice. don't know how much he was squeezing but with a rolling start we won. from a stop light to 100mph he won by half a car length...

question: what do you guys think is the most boost i can run w/ this inline pump + fmu setup? take note that my motor is bored to 1.8L so my walls are probably a lot weaker.

I'm running 8lbs daily on my D16Y8 with inline and FMU, so if your sleeves are thinner, I would maybe keep it around 6lbs or so?

what is the actual piston diameter you are using? you would have to either be running a stroker crank or 80mm pistons to be a 1.8L.

no stroker crank, but i have no idea (about the piston size.) when i first got the car, the motor was rebuilt and overbored for sure. i knew nothing about cars back then... i could barely drive my car heh.. which was my first 5speed.

well stock bore on a d-series is 75mm, so hopefully whoever built your motor didn't get pistons larger than .020 overbore, or your walls really will be too weak for boost.

really though the only safe way to find out how much boost you can safely on your motor, you'll have to get your car on a dyno & see how it reacts to increased boost. who knows, you could be running too lean or too rich in some areas & not even know it...

I would say get the FMU, but make sure you get the 10:1 disk or even the 8:1. My Drag kit came with a 12:1, which makes my car run pretty rich.

This will be ok until you can get the real thing(Hondata).

i doubt it was sleeved, that costs an extra grand and i can buy three more of the same motor for that price. just wanted to point out i am running a 12:1fmu and an inline fuel pump. after i get my clutch and exhaust, i guess i will save up for a dyno session.
