Anatomy of the switch from electric to mechanical fuel pump
These first two pix are of how a Waterman alcohol fuel pump is attached to the Honda cylinder head and cam gear. The kit was designed by Grant Downing. The Waterman pump pushes more fuel than the biggest Weldon pump at half the cost and half the trouble.
This pix is the final installed product. The pump is fed from the bottom of the tank, thru an SX filter with a metal element, to the inlet side of the pump. On the body of the pump, there is a bypass (back to the top of the tank) set to open if the system ever builds more than 110 lbs of pressure. To the outlet of the pump is attached a shut off valve that can be operated from the drivers compartment. Coming off the shutoff is a second line to route fuel back to the tank so that the pump won't blow a seal if you use the shutoff.
The pump then feeds the upper fuel rail which in turn feeds the lower fuel rail. The system ends with a Weldon high pressure regulator that also feeds back to the top of the fuel tank.
The pump is self priming and can deliver 50 lbs of pressure at at 500 rpm (engine idle of 1000 rpm. The pump can be set up to pump in clockwise or counter clockwise directions. Although there are 3 lines coming back to the top of the tank, they all release at the bottom of the tank so that the fuel will not get arieated.

thats pretty trick...
is that pump orignially for water? or is it only for alcohol.
also you said self priming...so startup isnt an issue?it would probqably just take a few more cranks to kick over. have you started it and run it yet? to test the new setup?

ANy problems tuning the cams with that setup? Or any between passes issues with the placement?

The pump is definitely made for fuel and is used by most alcohol sprint cars. Once the system is primed for the first time, it starts fast. The car is running now with this pump.

Hope to run the IDRC race in Palmdale this weekend if we can get the dyno and alignment done in time.
