An alternative to guages using in dash screen?
Well as the title says im near completion of my FI setup, and looking at guages and everything else, and it has a hefty price tag. I have no problem with buying all of that but was just wondering if there is anyway to incorporate my in-Dash TV into the system and cut down on guages?
Like if there is any sensors that have the 3 color AV output (very unlikely but hell) i obviously could use those.
And if that dosnt work, any recomendations on guages and wideband 02?
I was thinking of going with the AEM 02, but it only supports the AEM dataloging (1000$) which is pointless to me. How does PLX 300 sound?
thanks

you would have to have a "dash" monitor, in your ecu. most aftermarket standalones have this type feature. that is the only thing i can think of that would work. you would just need to connect your labtop to the tv screen, and it should output on there.

Actually when I was thinking of putting a computer system in my car to have GPS, games, DVD, etc I was thinkng of putting digital gauges as well. If you put a datalogging cable off your ECU and run somethig like Crome/Uberdata/Hondata/Neptune you can log a lot of the things you'll need like coolant temp, RPMs, map sensor (boost gauge), air temp (nice to have), speed, and a few others. ECUcontrol is a nice program that allows you to have all these "gauges" displayed on screen and thus eliminating the other guages. So unless you don't have a computer system in the car you can run this and save some money.

Will it work with Turbo Edit?
An alternative to not buying any guages sounds VERY intruiging

You're still going to have to buy sensors. its not like you don't have to buy anything. Anything you want to show up is going to need something that reads a pressure, temp, or AFR and I doubt the stock sensor tolerances are going to be adequate for monitoring anything.
I have the Defi screen, displays 2 values at all times, and scrolls through a max of 7 in "cinema mode" when you come to a stop.
I've found it to be a pretty good dash space saver.

Let me guess.. you need to buy that main Defi box that they sell for everything for like 150$ right? Like the one without which non of the guages work?

Bingo. Need the control unit (which is about 110, not 150) and a sensor for everything you want it to track.
The first time the warning system went nuts and saved the car.... it paid for itself.
