AVIC-F700BT / D3.. which in dash to choose...
im interested it looking what its going to cost me for a in dash GPS pioneer HU. ive always been a fan of pioneer, ive always liked the interface, and user controls.
looking around, most common are the AVIC-F700BT, and D3. both are pretty common online, and similar in price.
im not interested in bluetooth or DVD. i just want garmin. and XM. what other entry level pioneer in dash GPS units are out there?
i have a 2007 Element, and ive already been reading around on the element boards, that since the 07 bezel is more narrow, i have to order a 06 pilot center garnish to complete the dash install. its going to be work in progress... lol

I would wait on the f-series till they get the bugs out. Once done it will be nice with all the features, The only downside is that the screen is smaller then the d3. And that makes movie watching a pia.If you can find a d3. From a dealer and not ebay....broken gyro's Get that one. Bigger screen. Or save and go with the z-1. way bigger screen and built in hard drive. You should of played with my d3 when I met you. Hows the alarm and remote start working?

everything is going good, at my work, that huge concrete vault i work in, i tried the remote start in area's i dont' even get cellular service.. the 50.5x still worked. so right now, the range is amazing.
and i might be back down for pointers again soon. i kinda want to add that AU94T module. maybe at that time i can tinker with your touch screen.

Like desmond said, the f-series are not worth it, at least for the moment.
D3's are solid, I'm thinking about buying one for my own car, and install these frequently

i would recommend the d3.
the f series that are released now have a huge lag time.
expect to wait a bit before everything could operate.
if you have remote start, then the f series would be cool
let the remote start option start up the 700bt and by the time you hop in, its operational!

Re: (Sic_DA_Nine)
ok, so the start up time is long.. but is the functionality real time. my impression of the lag time was if you pushed a button, and it would take a second for the processor to register and act. if its the start up time thats the downfall, i could live with that.. but if the TV just works slow.. thats crapy.
and the D3 is discontinued.. but people are selling them on ebay still.. but REFUB's..
how do you guys feel abotu factory refurbished units?
