Re: All boosted motors - plug gap (GudeH23a)
Anyone else? Anyone stick to their stock pre-boosted gaps or increase the gap size post boost and if so by how much?

Never keep stock gap, the boost pressure "blows out" the spark. The only time you run large gaps is when you have some type of high energy spark box like the MSD 6A.
I run .030 in my LS..

Re: All boosted motors - plug gap (Boostfed)
OK, I can see that for highly boosted cars. The install has just been finished on my ITR and I'm only running 6lbs of boost at the moment, just until I've run it in before I increase the boost to about 10lbs.
Will stock gap of 0.044 be OK for 6lbs? I don't want the performance to be affected if I decrease the gap as I'm only on 6lbs....
No I'm not running MSD or the like to increase voltage...

5.5 psi running 8's with .28 gap....no problems so far. Idle is a bit off during warm up but afterwords its fine.

I run .025 with 25psi 500whp. Had to gap em close as boost was raised to keep from blowing out the spark.
im running 9 heat range .27 gap on 15 psi.

0.30 with MSD, 7 series and 7 psi. I could run it at stock gap, but my plugs wear so fast, I start low and they wear down.

How do you know or tell when your spark is being blow away?
im running 9 heat range .27 gap on 15 psi.

Looks like you are already down that road.

Re: All boosted motors - plug gap (Flamenco-T)
.035 Gap, NGK BKR7E, MSD 6A, 8psi
too much gap IMO, I'd do .030 ish

I played with some plug gaps before the MSD, and found that I yielded the least amount of detonation on the electrode at that gap.
Since MSD went on, still saw no problems, but never bothered to lower it either.
We'll see what happens.

I'll try that with some new plugs and see what happens.

Took the GSR off her hands, bought her an MDX, and sold the EG-h22
Some guy in Moreno Valley is enjoying Snowball, beware, she's still a sleeper turning 12's on the street.
And the GSR has had quite a bit of changes since then.

Re: All boosted motors - plug gap (Dublocivic)
Nice...nice...Looks like pretty much everyone here are running tight gaps. I'm not getting good # and wondering if the gap is one of the problems. However its not tuned tho and running rich as hell..
