Default air-water intercooler

i was looking at the designs of most air-water intercoolers, and they all (except the PWR barrel) look like sidemounts with water tanks welded on where the core would normally be exposed to air so that the water circulates through instead of air. does anyone know if it would be very effective to simply weld water tanks onto a DSM sidemount and add a pump and radiator... it seems like it wouldn't be very hard.

PM ELSpool. He has one on his Acura 1.6 EL Turbo. Works amazing - and uses 50/50 mix of coolant and water.
