AEM EMS Problem
Well since AEM can't keep their website up to save their life I'll ask this here.
Why do they use a com port for the EMS, do they know that pc's have not come with com ports in like 5 years? Can I use a USB adabter with this thing? Or how else can I hook it up?

Well my laptop doesn't have one that will connect to it. It has a monitor port that is male and the cable that AEM sent has a male also. If I get an adapter will it work?

I'll be quiet now I was on Compaq's web site and your right it doesn't have any serial ports. I know what Brand I will never buy.

Hondata, AEM, Speed Pro, Motec, Electromotive, Haltech, Link etc...
List of stand alone computers directly supporting a USB Port:
You are right, I guess they don't know that PC's don't come with com ports anymore. Nor does anyone else in the world, including most laptop manufacturers and all engine management systems manufacturers.

My P4-1600 Toshiba laptop is less than 1 week old. It has a com port. Can you tell me of ANY stand alone that does not require a serial port for communication?

I guess compaq just sucks.
Anyway the adaptor doesn't work either. So I just went and bought a IBM think pad. So it should be all good. cya
