Re: aem 2 hondata ?
if you're running an AEM standalone EMS then you should be able to pass emission, just return the car or make a different map to switch to for smog checks

Every tuning solution for Hondas uses OBD1 ECUs with the exception of standalones which are not OBD compliant at all.
What you have to do is restore the PGM-FI system back to stock. I have the same issue with my 2000 GSR but I have built my car with this in mind so swapping is very easy.
You need the stock OBD2 ecu and everything it expects - Including stock injectors, MAP, both O2s and distributor. I had a 3" cat made so I can easily swap in both O2 sensors without removing my turbo exhaust. I also have a second injector harness that I can swap in for the stock injectors or if you have OBD1 injector clips you can easily trim the tabs on OBD2 injectors so the OBD1 clips will fit. I keep the complete turbo setup on the car and gently drive it to the inspection station. Its a PITA but the price for a newer honda. GL

I dont know how any place could pass you for extra money. Its not like the old days when it was all visual. They have to hook it up to the computer and you can't fake/skip that step for OBD2 inspection. The only option would be to hook it up to another car for that part of the test. Unless your talking about a really corrupt place that will simply sell you the inspection sticker, but that is dangerous as NYS Police can scan the bar codes and tell if its legit.
