Default Advice on block d16z6

block is a d16z6

the block im getting ready to get is supposely already sleeved. The guy overboosted when it wasnt fully tuned and messed up the ringlands on the piston on cylinder 3. The scar on the wall isnt that bad. Pretty sure it shouldnt be hard to bore it out then just throw some over size pistons in. Was wondering though how many people have had to get there block bored out once its already sleeved? It looks like the scar on the cylinder wall is maybe 1-2 mm deep. Also will borring the block out cause it to be alot weaker? Im getting a really good deal on this block but alot of stuff is unknown, like who did the sleeves. You think it would be alot of work to get this thing going. or just a matter of borring it out and then throwing oversized pistons in? LMK guys. -Nick

what's the bore on it now..

75mm is stock, so if it hasnt been rebored before you should be fine.

there a couple people running 78mm with no problems.

depends on what pistons you want.

alot of places will custom make sizes. so 76mm, 77mm, etc...

i would get your block bored to get that scratch out 1st, then see what size you need. alot of piston places make off the shelf bored pistons, it just depends on what size you need.

I'd see if the guy will let you take it to a machine shop to get it checked out before you buy it.
