ACTMan Where are you..
Hey, since you replied to my last topics about my problems with my ACT clutch or whatnot, and your PM's are disabled, Please help me out, I don't want to email ACT's contact email directly as I dont think I will get my point across.
This is my second ACT clutch both of them being XT/SS model# AI4-XTSS, the clutches I Had prior were exedy organic and factory honda. I never had this problem with those clutches.
Anyhow, My car is a 2000 civic si, boosted with t3t4 turbo. I first had my clutch installed by Jerry of Import builders back a couple years ago. I broke it in properly.. about 500-600 miles granny driven, and after that period a Weird chattering/chirping/cricket type of noise starting coming from my tranny. If I hold down the pedal so that there is no freeplay, the noise is gone, I believe it is the throwout bearing and I am SURE he installed it properly.. either way.. the noise starting driving me insane, and since it costs alot to drop the tranny, I figure I might as well put a new clutch in so I don't have to pay again later on, so I bought another act/xtss clutch along with an act streetlight flywheel and had it installed around thanksgiving 2004 by DOHC Garage. I broke it in properly again, around 500 miles without abuse. and today, 01-15-05, the freaking tranny chirping chattering like a damn cricket when in gear and in neutral, only when I hold down the clutch does the noise go away.
I can't afford to keep dropping my tranny to fix a damn throwout bearing that costs a tiny % of the labor cost. I don't know if you guys put in defective bearings or im **** out of luck, but help me out, I love the clutch and the grab, but the noise is driving me crazy. I can even come by to your so cal location one weekend if you can drop the sucker and check it out.. PLEASE help..

It's the weekend, and I doubt he'll get back to you for a while. If I were you, I'd create a new thread asking for advice. A good company like ACT or any other good clutch manufacturer for that matter, has defects now and then. The chances of the same thing happening to you after buying the same clutch are pretty unlikely. But then again, you never know!
well hopefully he will reply.. theres nothing else I can do but drop the tranny and replace the bearings but I have no funds to drop the tranny again just for a $30 bearing..
, but the noise is driving me crazy..

Weird enough, I had the EXACT SAME problem!
But for some odd reason the noise just went away after? Weird, I know..
