Access to negative side of ignition coil?
I'm installing my J&S Vampire knock detector/protector and one of the wires requires access to the negative side of the ignition coil. Well the coil appears to be molded all in one with the distributor. Is one of the wires in that harness coming out of the distributor it?
Don't suppose one of the wires off the ECC (P72) in the cab of the car is ignition negative? that would just be to easy
I looked over the ECC pinout and it doesn't look like it is.

Why not run the wire directly to coil (-) Cut the wire going to coil negative. Get a new ring terminal and clamp coil (-) wire and JS wire into the same clamp then screw back onto coil (-)
There should be way to get a wire in the distributor, Everyone who installs msd has to get both Coil (+) and (-) to the msd outside of the distrbitor. Just keep it as clean as possible and wire tie it to the exisitng harness within the distributor so the wires wont interfer with anything while running
ohh wait was just thinking...Where is the JS being mounted under dash? or under hood?

OK I will have to figure out how to do that. My Vampire is installed under the passenger's seat so I'll need to run a wire through the firewall and to the distributor and and then take it apart and figure out how to get inside of it and to the coil.
Here's were the unit is.

your plastic cover comes off the distrib, youll see the coil inside with 2 wire going to it.
Look for the - side.
