? about gearing & turbo set ups for B series.
Didn't really find what I was searching for so......
I know this blankets alot of different areas like drag racing, autocrossing, big turbos for big top end power and smaller turbos for quicker more streetable spool time. So whats the tranny pic of choice for most of you guys? Is there a certain one thats prefered or a mix-match of gearing including the final drives? Thanks.

your type R tranny will work great. you will run out of gear at about 136mph in 4th though. if that is a problem, the mfactory 4.05 final will fix it

mine did with 24.5 tires and i think the rev limiter was either 9000 or 9500

with a 4.7 final? I think that is where you went wrong. That 4.05 final is all wrong in my opinion

at what rpm? i think mine was 9000 back then. it hit the rev limiter right before the finish line.

This really depends upon what you're trying to do with the car. There's not a really special formula for it all, but it can change depending upon your options. You're not going to find a lot of definitive answers on what is "best" because there are so many tested variables that have already been used. There are final drive changes as well as gears. Check out the charts that show what the final drives and gearing are, and calculate changes that you need.

I'm guessing that to be about 73 MPH w/ a 4:40 F/D? That be true I'd really like that for taking a long road trip as opposed to 4K+ RPM's on the stock 5th. You must have read my mind. Thanks!

I run a B16 1-4 with a GSR 5th, 150mph should be attainable at around 10k in 4th with a 24.5" tire. I was around 9000rpm in 4th at 130 with tiny 185/65/14's. I love the B16/ITR's gearing, 4th gear pulls insanely. I went from 89mph in the 1/8th shifting into 4th and picked up 40mph by the time I crossed the traps on low boost, I dont think a GSR 4th would of allowed me to pick up that kind of mph.
