Default 93 si turbo setup

Hey, I just wanted to start out by saying that I recently found this place a week ago and I have learned more by reading these forums than anywhere else! Now to my real question. I currently own a 93 civic si. It has around 100k miles on it. An old lady owned it for it's whole life. It was well taken care of(minus a few bumps in parking lots). I'm trying to do the turbo route right now. I'm wanting to eventually swap. For now, ,the wife and myself want to make it quicker. I'm wondering what are some people's suggestions as to what setup that I could get now that would be easy to upgrade. Maybe if possible be able to keep some of the old parts when upgrading to new motor. If someone might just want to give me some sort of direction I would appreciate it.

If you are going to eventually do a swap save that money and do the swap. what motor are u considering? i would recommend gs-r turbo but depending on your budget. if you are planning on buying a next sohc motor you should go with drag gen3 or revhard kit.

Hey, if u want to sup that beast up you have to get a turbo. If i were you i would search this site for odds and ends. Do a homemade turbo kit peiced together and make sure you at least get a VAFC or AFC, and a fuel pump and dsm 450cc injectors. I have a homemade turbo and it runs great on 9 psi daily.
Hit me up or ask around......

Yeah, I was looking at piecing a turbo set-up together just because I've heard that you can do it for a lot cheaper. To answer some of the questions, I would like to eventually swap a b18 into it. The H22 is nice, but I think that it would take away from the driving too much. Where would I even start looking? To piece it together what parts should I buy to begin with? Thanks again for all the help.

Also, does anyone know any good literature to really LEARN about turboing a Honda motor? Like why you need certain injectors to push so much fuel, ect. Thanks.

You got something against NAWS?? I wasn't joking at all. No matter what engine he upgrades to, he will be able to keep his investment in this. There are not many parts you can buy that swap over from a D to a B engine.

You *could* move the sohc turbo kit over when you buy the Bseries engine, but you will have to port the exhuast manifold out and slot out a couple bolt holes. The small turbo and modded manifold probably wont make you as happy as if you had a Bseries turbo kit though.

aiight you can get a whole ls setup for under a 1000 like around 800 dont waste your time with a single the motor is a peice of **** I wouldnt bother with n e thing under a 1.8 waste of money and no power b16's are also very good but never a single cam never ls and save up about 2000 and you could make a real good custom kit. good luck !!!

Well, when I was talking about moving the turbo over to the new car, I meant that I would just move it from my 93 si to my 99 ex. Both are every day drivers, so I'm just waiting until my wife buys her accord. Then I can rip the 93 down to where I can put the new DOHC in. Anyone have any preferences on turbo kits? I've heard of Greddy mostly. Some people say that there are others that are better. Any thoughts would be nice. THANKS!

Thats horrible advice. I'm not saying the single cam is an outstanding motor but with a turbo it can be just fine for a daily driver. Waste of money? Not in the least. First off, you will barely spend any money. Blow up the motor, no problem, buy another for $200. Blow a trans, who cares, another $200 at the most. Do that to a b-series motor and see what that runs you.

I've been running the small greddy turbo on my d16z6 for over a year and I have blown a headgasket, and a diff in the trans. My car is daily driven plus makes 130+ mile trips from my house to school without giving me any problems.

That kind of scares me if there has been that much damage in less than a year. How many miles were on your car before all this happened? Do you drive your car hard?

We have TSI Superior turbo kits starting around $1300 *shipped* to get you on the road with your turbo kit. Comes with everything you need to run the basic setup, the extreme kit comes with intercooler and more, but is more expensive.

If that is too much, you can get custom made headers, and a used 14b from a stock first gen eclipse, and get some custom work done.

I do drive my car hard quite often. The head-gasket blew because of a loose head-bolt. So just for the sake of upgrading I got the ARP headstuds and cometic HP style head-gasket. I blew the diff in my trans....180k stock trans....when I was at the track. I got real bad wheel hop in first gear and it just did me in. I don't consider that a lot of damage for a car that was not intended to be turbocharged... Especially for having it done for over a year. I've been running the v-afc hack for a few months now and i'm still running the suggested settings from thedropshop because I haven't gotten to a dyno.
