Was it the same noise all the way through the RPM ranges when you were driving it? You really won't know until you start tearing into it. When's the last time you had the oil changed?

One things for sure not good! Time for a rebuild, pull the valve cover and inspect if that looks good time to pull the head. Good luck

Had the bottom out. turns out my oil pump was going bad and unfortunately it took out 2 bottom bearings in 2 and 3

Damn dude that sucks. That's why I refused to start my engine after I built it till I got a oressure gauge.

It saved my engine last week. I hit a gnarly bump transition into a bridge. It ripped the drain pan plug flange halfway off.

Was driving the car hard and caught it as soon as the pressure fluttered down and up. Had no indicstion other than fluttering from 60 to 40 then back up.

Turned around fast and saw tons of smoke, found a spot to park (by this time I was at 20psi at 2k) by the time I stopped another 1.5-2qt poured out.

All this happened within 1 minute of hitting the bridge.

The dummy light wouldve gone off after the engine was trashed

Yes i have a oil pressure guage and I'm a noob so I'm always takin pics well since it was going in and out at times it would read low..... then be fine.... the 2 times it read low i asked a few guys but of course when i would have them come check it out... it read fine and ran fine riding home it cut off on me. i pulled over cut it off. let it sit. had oil in in it. so i cut it on...car ran fine idled fine.... drove it and it cut off again. so not chancing it i got it towed home. Next day i had a friend come over and that's when the knocking noise came so I'm guessing that night before was when the damage was done. compression test was good but when we took the bottom out bearings in 2 and 3 were toast but got a great friend on it and were gonna go with a gsr oil pump, brand new bearings and we should be back rolling by sat/sunday. we thought it was the valves but he adjusted them and still had that knock so glad we got to it when we did.

Yeah that's why whenever I see any pressure flutter I assume it's telling the truth. The flutter that you saw was the warning sign that everything wasnt ok

Btw if your bearing looks like that, your a crankshaft is probably ruined too. My rod bearing looked like that on an engine that spun a bearing, and I proceded to drive it over 300 miles over the next month babying it till I got everything to build an engine

The bearings had overlapped. I havent measured the crank but im sure its junk. Honda cranks 99% of the time are junk of you spin a bearing on them

Yea were tossing in another crank heading to the machine shop in an hour. Thankfully i found a hands on honda guru whose helping me. gonna be out of pocket $700 for it all but i will reward him handsomely since other places were giving me $1200-$1300 estimates off gate and hadn't done a thing

dam! so you watched it flutter, meaning it dropped significantly then bounced back up?

The last times i watched it oil pressure was fine.... when the car died i pulled over and cut it off immediately. so i started it back up and noticed it was low. It had oil in it.
