92 civic hatch.. oil from turbine (turbo charged)
hello new to this.
i have a 92 civic hatch turbocharged running on 10 psi. when i bouth the car the turbine was clean, but i recently noticed that its dar now with oil. its not dripping bad but theres oil there, i also feel like ive lost some boost. any suggestions? first turbo charged car so i dont really know a whole lot.
also.. i replaced the radiator yesterday and white smoke is coming from under the hood. could it be the spilled antifrezee from yesterday? i also thik that my fan is not qorking. would it be a bg problem since i boost every time i drive?
any suggestions would be appreciated

a/r50 is not a turbo. You are in for a crash course in turbocharging. I suggest you start reading up on as much as you can because anything I say to you from now on is going to sound like gibberish. There will be people that can come along and give you a much more precise and accurate description of anything and everything I'm about to say but I'll try and keep it as simple as I can and as I understand things.
What is bad about blown seals? Really? Oil is supposed to cool the turbo. Not get into the housing and be burned off by it.
What is a restrictor?
A restrictor is used to RESTRICT the amount of pressure feeding the turbo to prevent what? Blown seals. DO you need one? Depends on the turbo.
How soon should you replace?
You don't even know what turbo you have but you actually need to have it rebuilt if you indeed have blown seals.
First lesson learned. Never buy a boosted car when you don't know anything about boost.
Is this an Ebay turbo kit?

Take many pictures of your set up and post them.
I hope you didn't fall victim of the new trend...to buy a POS Civic for cheap, slap an Ebay turbo kit on it and then flip the car for a profit.

@Marc, I'm guessing it is an ebay turbo like a godspeed or something if it just says A/R.50 on it. This oughta be interesting. Is the "dark" in the downpipe actually oil? Or is it carbon buildup?

Let me know what you all think this is or what could be causing whatever its coming out of the turbine. i also noticed tht the turbine/bles are not constantly moving. when i looked at the car it was on and idling good but the turbine was not moving at all.
Thanks guys

What should i replace? just the seals or the turbo? which one and where is the best place to buy the item? any sites or stores where i could find this for cheap?
ive read that there is a line connected to the turbo that i believe gives it coolent to keep the turbo cool. im not sure if its installed on this one.
About the coolent problem. i believe the fan is not working. ill take a look at it.

He means replace the whole turbo.
Is your exhaust smoking pretty bad?
Yea I have seen those quite a bit too. And I'm wondering the same about the head gasket.

I'm telling you! I hope he knows the difference but he didn't mention any downpipe that I remember. Just oil in the turbine. Probably running that sans filter. And I'm wondering if the coolant issue is due to blown headgasket?

Can't tell anything from those pics. Can we maybe get a better camera or better resolution? Maybe even real close ups?

And I'm pretty positive that's an ebay turbo, I don't think they sell rebuild kits for it, and there really isn't any way to tell exactly what brand it is, so you won't really be able to get the right rebuild kit, you are going to have to buy a new turbo.

Re: 92 civic hatch.. oil from turbine (turbo charged)
Pretty sure your turbo is just oil cooled, no coolant lines. With an oil cooled turbo you should let the car idle for a couple minute before you drive it, and a minute or two before you shut it off after driving. Look into a turbo timer.

I wouldn't buy the same turbo again, buy a real garret or something. Garret is probably your best bet for price. But you have to find one that has the same bolt pattern as the downpipe and manifold flange.
