85mm gsr turbo. Please help
Hello everyone, i'm currently having issues with my car, its a daily driver 2000 civic ex. the motor is a 2001 85mm gsr t3/t4, Aem ems an the regular's. My issue is that three months after i bought the car, the head gasket whent out at 7.8psi, when i whent to buy the new gasket from a performance shop, he said the motor would never hold up to a lot of boost (15+). That was three months ago and the the car is back up, but not 100%. After the rebuilt it started smoking, a leak down test showed the rings are bad, an due to a crappy shop mill job on the head it had to be millied again, an now the car stumbles from 5100 to 62ish rpm. My questions are
1. Is it true that the bore is too big to see big numbers of boost 15+? an whos runnig this size bore turbo how many psi an how much power, etc.
2. what can be causing the stumbling? Can it be cam timing, or something along those lines?
3. Im thinking of getting rid of the aem for a s300, due to expensive an not knowing anybody in phoenix that i trust to tune. What would you do?
4. I have the opportunity to get a gt35r. would it be good for dd grind?
Thanks, an sorry for the long post first time

Doesnt say wether or not the block is sleeved or not, I would assume with that bore size that it has to be...
to the op,
as far as your bore size the only problem I could see would be headgasket issues, but I have seen a few 85mm boost set ups so it is all in the tune
As far as PSI is concerned again it is all in the tune as far as Im concerned
GT35r, Cant go wrong in my book, capable of making good top end power if the correct exhaust housing is used and still streetable.
question tho, was this an 84 or 84.5 mm boost block that went bad or a used all motor block that you got a good price on

85.mm should be no problem on boost. Like stated before, its up to the tune.
remember to use stock over bored HG.

wouldnt be better to go wtht a performance company like comedic? the headgasget that let go was a stock over bore from rs machine, an thats what it has on right now. Anybody think it will be a good idea to o ring the block? Is Anybody running this size motor on turbo?

my friends 85mm LS/V runs strong and perfect, he has good amount of miles on the motor and dozens of passes down the track in the 600whp area, no issues. I wish I had an 85mm motor, his responce and out of boost power is great.

Nope, I wouldn't use Cometic, unless I'd want to go thicker. I've used no other but OEM Honda. It wouldn't hurt getting it o ringed.

I have the opportunity to buy a built b16 (stock sleeve) srp piston, eagle rods, ferrea springs an retainers, balanced, obx manifold, 38 tial, down pipe, jg intake mani, and a gt35 all for 2700. Should i just scrap the 85mm gsr an buy it ? my goal for power is to hit 500+ an "TRY" to do it on pump gas
