Default 6al or 7al?

what are the benefits of going with a 7al as opposed to the 6al? im going to be using the blaster coil ss (or hvc) and the msd dizzy cap. im aiming for 350whp daily driven and about 500ish whp high boost.
my mechanic says that the 6al wont be enough spark for what im doing so i need to go with the 7al. but im thinking maybe hes just trying to pitch me on the 7al because he knows my taste in that im overbuilding this motor (aebs sleeves, pauter rods and cp pistons). or am i even better off going with the aem ignition since im gonna get an aem ems in a couple monthes?

my motor matches the hp specs you suggest and i have no ignition enhancement whatsoever short of plug wires.

nothing wrong with oem ignitions. if a problem comes along you can whip it, but there shouldn't be.

Factory honda ignition are fine but they have their limit, I would at least get a cap and run an external coil.

You should be fine with the 6.

MSD is nice for soft touch, vs. factory setup.

well i mean he knows what hes doing for sure and has built many a race motor. hes currently working on an all motor f22 @ 15:1 compression for his eg. i think hes just trying to get me to get the 7al because he knows that i like the best of the best. has anyone ran the aem c2di? what makes the 7al more appealing than the 6al? would you guys reccomend the hvc or the blaster coil ss?

M&W has received alot of good press. I'm using the 6AL at the hp levels that you 're talking about. I've heard that the 7AL has more features that are useful in drag racing, has higher energy output and has better components than the 6AL. The specs support the first two statements but I don't know about the components/quality.

Well, whatever the best of the best is, it sure doesn't have an MSD logo on it. Read up on M&W, you won't be disappointed.
