Not sure I understand your post. Just letting people know that I have a D? (which I do)... or that Oscar does? (which even if that was so... I wish he'd stop posting about things he doesn't know...)

I know you have a D

There is alot of problems with larger turbos and D series motors. First thing you run into is the head wont flow enough. Then it wont rev high enough. And finally, once you fix all of those problems the tranny is total crap and the gear ratios are all wrong.

I run a large turbo on my D, a gt3082r, i get full boost mid 5500rpms. You either have to shift at 9000+rpms or get a close ratio gearbox to keep the rpms happy. The d-series trannys dont really like shifting that high anyways. I opted for a custom close ratio gearbox and i still end up reving my motor to 8400rpms.

You're really much better off with a turbo that spools in the mid/low 4000s then 5500-6000 rpm range. And your 1/4 numbers will show that. I can almost guarantee that a gt28rs on a 9:1 sohc with stock head and stock tranny will be faster in the 1/4 then a more powerful gt3082r/60-1/gt35r or like turbo. The powerband is aweful.

Unless you have lots of work done to your motor/tranny, keep to the smaller turbos. If you are going to goto all that work/trouble you should have just started with a b-series to start with. (wish i took that advice but im in too deep now haha)

Yeah i got it running. I run a full 3" exhaust now - no more out the bumper im over that way to loud and smelly. Depends on the gear but i hit full spool around 5500 rpms give or take some.

Runs very well - still needs more tuning but ive run up to 27psi and it hauls some butt.

I run a gt3082r (gt35r compressor with a gt30r exhaust) not a 60-1. And yes, it better be over 400whp haha! I put down 386whp @ 23psi with my old setup...

little news tonight guys, still running strong, got the street tune down on wot, and most of my part throttle, still a little lean here and there, but i actually ran an ek hatch wiht a built d16y7 and t3t04e he was on 9psi and with me on 13 i put it to him pretty bad, i was pretty happy!!!!

actually watched the boost guage a little more closely and i see full boost from 5000-5200, so its not bad, i need to get the head finished so i can rev it out a little more...

anyone see any problem revving stock valvetrain to 8k with a 59300 cam?

i see your point, but my options right now are either .60/.48 t3 or a 60-1, and trust me, the 60-1 is MUCH faster...

i reved my setup to 8k on a regular basis at the track...100% stock head, stock cam, stock everything....the only reason i did it was to drop back into the "sweet spot" in the next gear...only did it in 2-3 and 3-4. 1st gear wouldnt go into second if i shifted at anything over 7500. on the dyno power started dropping off at 7200 but i was still over 350whp at 7800...shifting later and dropping me higher in the power band made a HUGE difference in my times at the track...i think i could have got down in the 11.1-11.2 range just from getting my shift points dialed in more. on my 11.4 run i short shifted 2-3 and i lost almost 4mph in the 1/8 from earlier runs in the night........
