50 shot on a civic SOHC ex coupe....will this be ok?
i am very skeptical about using nitrous for my car. i heard about the 50% rule and since my car produces only 127hp. i figure that a 50 shot with stock internals shouldnt really hurt my car right? i mean, let's say i use it twice or three times a week. this should be ok right? my car has 61K on it and running perfectly fine, i just dont want one of those things where when i install it and use it....it blows my engine. i was thinking ova the 50% rule with a 75 shot, but i think thats pushing my SOHC too much. i would love to go turbo, but no money. What are your thoughts about using nitrous. THANKS! (thinking of dry-setup)

go with a wet setup at the minimum.. if not a direct port setup.
nitrous is cheap initially, but if you look at it.. freeing up the exhaust, maybe a header... nitrous refills, plug changes more frequently.. etc... it's more expensive than you think...
I wouldn't go with anything larger than a 50% more than what your carhas stock. Also before you go squeezing, do a compression test and see what the numbers say.
for gods sake have it professionally installed the first time and if you can hang out at the shop, check out what they are doing from time to time so that you can see what problem areas might pop up from time to time.
my brackets that the solinoids mounted to vibrated upand down and eventually had to be replaced.. etc... watch how they run the electrical wires and what they goto...
i ran nitrous 75shot wet kit from N.O.S. for a year with NO problems at all... but i also only went through 4 bottles in that time period and one of them was from a leak....
it's cheap hp.. but have the utmost repect for it...
if you get a kit, lemme know i'll give you some pointers..

Dude i think if i put a wet 50 shot of nitrous on my lawnmower it should take it. My point being that most stock engines can handle a 50 shot (wet) without hurting anything once used responsibly. I had a nitrous express wet kit shooting a 50hp shot for about three bottles on my d16y8 before i went turbo and it held up fine and it responded good to it. I took my cylinder head off a few months back to install thicker head gasket and my pistons and valves looked so much better than my buddy's 2000 all motor civic Si with 50,000 miles. It did start to eat away at my stock clutch so plan on investing in an ACT stage II later if not now.
