Default 440cc injectors, too big?

As many of you know I have plans to turbo up my car. I don't plan on making much more than 250hp till I build the block up and no more than 300 after. I will be using a hondata setup. I was told I would need to upgrade my injectors but was wondering if 440 would be overkill for either of my goals.

go with 525's or 550's if you plan on going around 300 hp

300 could be done on your stock block.. if you are going to spend 1500 on building the bottom end your going to want more then a 50hp gain.. maby shoot for 400ish... or whatever the max is you can make on pumpgas..

1000cc is perfect.. leaves plenty of headroom for when you want more power..

HP = Car guy CRACK.... your gunna want more...

Although I do agree with the last statement. 1000cc is a little overkill, although you can get them to idle, it isn't as nice as a 550-780cc idle. I would stay in <-- range, I have never had a problem with a car with injectors like that on a street car.

Although 1000cc leaves plenty of room, I still think it is a better idea to get injectors that will be relatively close to what you are shooting for, with a little headroom.

I always just go for the top with injectors.. I went with 1000cc Precisions and dont regret it one bit.. Also using the AEM EMS with them helps alot..

Does AEM have any kind of kick back board or driver board for low impedance injectors?

Err.. It runs the high-impeadance injectors.. I think the universal EMS will do both.. Also AEM has an injector driver that balances the injectors and allows you to run high or low imp..

Hm, interesting. I was wondering how they went about it, I know with a megasquirt you can build a fly-back board which helps with the current draw. I haven't looked at AEM desgins, I just use it.

Hehehe.. Dont you love that.. Everything with AEM you just "use it" instead of figuring out how to rig stuff to make things work..

I am using a standard oem Honda resistor box on my 1000cc's and it idles perfect..
Also changing the microbit/sec helps alot with making it idle at 750rpms perfectly..

K, that was what I was getting at. I think only with a standalone can you get a stock like idle with big low impedence injectors.

Although I will say that I haven't done a ton of low impedance big injectors.

plenty of people have 1000cc injectors that idle perfectly... i always raise an eyebrow when people talk about idle problems.. is it just down to the tuner or what?

"The trend lately is to use high impedance types in most production cars. The best way to determine impedance is to put a digital ohmmeter across the two electrical connections and see what it reads. The primary advantage of low impedance injectors is a shorter triggering time. When large injectors are fitted to high output engines, low impedance injectors will often give a better idle quality because of this fact. The primary advantage of high impedance injectors is the fact that less heat is generated in the drive circuit and often no external resistors are used."

Pulled from an SDS EFI site.

So If that source is right, I proved myself to be an asshat.

I just had my **** backwards. But this does make a whole lot of sense through an electronics point of view that I over looked.

Has alot to do with the resolution of the changes that you can make on the fuel map..

Yeah ive heard some ppl with 1000s run great, some dont. Thats why i ended up with 880cc, big enough for anything i would need and never have an idle problem.

Well, i dont know alot about injector impediance flow rates and terms like that but I can say that I have 440cc RC Injectors on my ride. I made 293whp on them and im pretty happy with them. Also i get 24mpg city and 29mpg Highway Thats what conservative tuning does. Actually i dont think there is mpg when you are turbo anywhere. Cause boost eats away gas.

I was just thrown off by the prices.. 750cc-900cc are in the $75-$85 each and 1000cc's are $90 each.. After that the prices go up..

You at about the limit of those injectors..

Exactly, the prices are almost the same might as well get the biggest thing you can get. Hondata/Neptune/AEM will run them great. I run Neptune.
