Default 3inch intercooler piping???

Is 3 inch charge piping worth it on a car above 500 horsepower? Will it make a difference?

Thanks

Ive seen guys make 500whp-600whp+ all the time with 2.5" pipings.. Assuming its not really nessecary... But what do I know..

Unless you got a large Throttle Body, or large a Turbo compressor having a 4" outlet..? Then It might be fun... B

I dont have really any evidence to back this up, but I've always said never use piping bigger than your throttle body. But I think it makes sense you're only gonna cause turbulence reducing size to your throttle body, and larger pipes take longer to pressurize therefore it takes longer to pressurize your intake manifold, effectively increasing spool time.

I wouldn't go any larger than your TB.

68 mm = 2.7"

.. so don't go larger than this on the upper IC pipe ... I would keep the lower pipe at 2.5"

or get a 70mm TB and go 2.5 " on the lower and 2.75" on the upper IC pipe ...

only If I want around 600whp

I run 3" on the outlet side of the I/C and 2.5" on the inlet side on my personal car.
No reasoning behind it really, just happened to be what i had around when i built it all. I haven't really had any problems with it. Car only makes 300whp as it sits right now.
I generally use 2.5" on most of the stuff I build and It all seems to work well

Just stick to 2.5, why fiddle with something that is tried and true?
