Default -3an oil feed with restrictor

I've decided to hook up my oil pressure gauge to the -3an oil feed line on my Garett T3/T4 and noticed that the oil pressure is peaking at 60 psi on wide open throttle and no less than 50 psi during partial throttle driving. I was surprised to see how much pressure was still coming through the -3an and now I'm wondering if to use a restrictor that ATP sells to reduce the oil pressure to the turbo. I'm beggining to see leaks between the clamps of the turbine and compressor housings and oil residue inside them as well. Motor is a stock GSR. If anyone has used a restrictor with the -3an and has had good results with it, let me know and I will try it out as well. Just want to make sure that I don't starve the turbo by using both. Thanks

i use a -3 line and a .055" restrictor i made for my t3 60 trim.

5psi on idle and around 30 psi above 3krpm. turbo has been fine for 25k+ miles.

Wow, 5psi on idle. I wouldn't think it would be safe that low but since it has lasted that long for you I'll definitely give it a try. 30 psi @ 3K sounds about right. ATP sells one with .060 so that will work out nicely. Did you place the restrictor right on the turbo oil inlet or a foot or so down the line? Thanks for the help

I use a -3 an with the ATP .035" restrictor on my 30r, tubo is doing fine. Never got around to hooking up a gauge to the line itself, but when I had my 28rs with just a -3 feed and no restrictor, well that didn't last all that long

I am running a straight t3 60-1 70 ar turbo and It was leaking from the underside of the turbine housing. Well, I have a 1/2 or -10 an line from the turbo to the pan (moroso). I was told that it was line restricting the drain. I looked at my line a million times. After pounding my head onthe pavement over this ****. I took it off and sent the turbo for inspection. After receiving it I re did my line, nothing major just removed a IC piping that went infront of it and routed it to the top, and put the Function restrictor on the turbo. I put a clear drain line so I could see the oil, and I have a oil guage. Well sure enough no oil leak, and I see plenty of oil coming down the drain, alot when I rev the motor and there are no leaks at all. That is my story and I hope it helps in some kind of way cause it was a pain in the ***. Good luck

different turbos need different amounts of oil. my small t3 may use less oil than your larger turbo. if i were you, i would call the place you got your from and ask them. im sure they will have the correct solution to your problem.

and yes, i placed my restrictor right on the turbo.
