Default 38mm Tial rating?

Ok I was curious to see how much HP some wastegates can hold. I have an RB25DET right now and am doing a semi build bottom end and will be upgrading the turbo to a Precision SC61 and want to be pushing around 500hp. Can I get 500hp out of a 38mm Tial.

alot of people can run alot of hp through a 38mm tial it will flow fine the problem however is the design of manifolds and your wg placement. if done correctly the tial 38mm can handle the power that you wnat to make if not you will have to go larger unit like band aid fix

Wastegates don't "hold" horsepower. They release exhaust gas energy that is not needed to spool the turbo. Therefore the more you boost, the less exhaust gas energy needs to be released, the smaller the wastegate should be.

In other words, you'll be fine. 38mm is what you want.

Thanks for your guys info. I know how the wastegate work, I just wanted to put it in simple words for others so they have a clue of how much air flow I will be pushing. Probably around 23-25psi out of the SC61 (T61). I will be using a stock manifold (which is not designed the greatest) and an adapter peice for the external wastegate. Here are pictures of my setup pretty much:

You may end up needing to reduce the length of that wastgate tube.
