Default 340 whp At The Track!!!

Ok , i made it to the track on some bfg radials that i got from a friend. I bought them on the way to the track and really have no idea how well they will grip. I made the 340 whp at 14 psi with a 60-1. I know these times are high for what power i am making, just wondering what you guys think. I only made 2 passes due to rain.

1st run-
60'...2.183
330...5.976
1/8...8.815
mph...86.59
1000...11.220
1/4...13.196
mph...115.01

2nd run
60'...2.020
330...5.704
1/8...8.539
mph...87.15
1000...10.964
1/4...12.962
mph...114.01
12.9 @ 114.5

New Times
12.5@118
60ft...2.02

I dont have the slips in front of me now though.

The first run i launched at 9 psi and switched to 14 at 3rd gear.
The second run i ran 11 psi the whole time.

Any advice on lowering my times. It seems like my 60 ft is ok at 2.0, but my 1/8 mile time is still like 8.5 what is the deal?

Also i am on an ls transmission and i basically maxed it out in 4th gear at the end of the track. Is this a good trans for my setup. I was under the impression that you want to max out 4th gear at the end of the track. I am shifting at 78-8000 also. New Times

Watch out for the forum police.

Personally, I think the times will come down with more practice (boost adjustments, tire pressure, etc). Keep trying...
BTW, how old were the tires?

First of all, let me address this. R/T DOES NOT AFFECT E/T. The clock does not start until you start down the track. Therefore, in run what you brung heads up racing, you can sit at the light all day and still beat the guy, because it's E/T vs E/T. R/T ONLY MATTERS IN BRACKET RACING. Bracket racing being handicapped racing where you give the track you're estimated E/T and they make the other guy start before or after you so that you theoreticly both hit the end of the track at the same time. Therefore, getting of the line quicker is important, along with consistency and shifting.

Amazes this is still new to some people, or maybe im just an ***, either way.

About you're E/T. The LS tranny is a dog. It's great for daily driving with 340whp, bad for drag racing. Sure it keeps wheelspin on the D/L a little more, but it's still long, and still slows you down. Second, 340whp without an LSD is holding you back big ******* time.

Get an LSD, watch you're times improve.

I think it has a lot to do with the kind of powerband most honda owners go for. Typically they run very large turbos and have to keep the rpm's at full boil. Most cars with a broad powerband are rewarded with longer gears, you just have to have the torque to move them. The less time you spend shifting the more time you spend accelerating. I've experimented shifting to 4th and I run slower in the quarter. My best times are running 3rd to 7500 rpm's for a 108mph trap. However my turbo is at full boil at 3000rpm's. If I was a 60-1 car I'd be praying for shorter gears most likley. So, its all relative to the powerband in my experience.

Extra torque from swapping a GSR transmission into an RS/LS/GS/SE:

1st: 3.141%
2nd: 3.141%
3rd: 10.537%
4th: 10.402%
5th: 13.686%
</TD></TR></TABLE>

Shift point or not, torque multiplication owns you in the end, GSR tranny will be faster if you can control the spin.

ok i have now run a 12.5 on my 14in bfg radials. They were spinnin like crazy at the top of the gears, and anything higher than a 4500 slip at launch spun too. does anyone have suggestions for what size slick i should be using? I would like to be able to mount them on 15 or 14 in honda wheels.

Also, i am concerned that if i get too big of a slick, that i will not max out 4th gear at the end of the track. I have the shitty ls trans and i dont want to waste any of my power!

With the right amount of traction, 11's are not out of the question. I was running consistant 11.40's with 320whp.

The last thing I want to do is jack this thread. I have a stock bodied CX hatch. Full interior, minus the back seats and carpet. Ran consistant 11.40's once I got it all dialed in. Consistant 1.60's 60' foot. OF COURSE this was on slicks. traction is a WONDERFULL thing!!!

The car as it sat in July of 03https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=654560

In march of 04 at the Import Face Off in Shreveport. The rear interior was back in minus the carpet and seats. Its the second pic down. Also provides an out side viewer stating what the car was running. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=814342

Br1t1shguy... you are only 1/2 way right

in heads up its who finishes first, r/t plays a big role. if i have a 0.500 and you have a 0.600, i run a 13.5 and you run a 13.45, i win by 0.5 sec. you loose, pack your **** up and go home. r/t plays no role in the posted ET though, but in any type of racing its very important

did you warm up the bfg's?? also u mention rain..the track surface gets cold making it difficult to get grip..i notice my times getting steadily worse when it got later into the evening at the night drags.

also what kind of boost controller are u using? I have a HKS evc 4 but was always to scared to switch boost levels during wot.
