Import Face Off pics, Louisiana
I went out to IFO today I think it was a pretty good turnout for the Louisiana area. Several cars were running deep in the 11s and a few were clicking off 10s all day. Here are some pics:
Autologic NSX from Houston, Texas. He was running 12.70s all day alll motor. Sorry for the crappy pic but this NSX was a really nice looking car.

Eric Moore with Moore Motorsports in Tyler Texas. I saw him running 11.40s today with traps just over 120. This is a stock block motor

This Integra was badass. Im not sure of the who the owner is but he was running low 11s trapping 130 plus.

This was a local car. Its a 20B blown motor in a S-10 blazer. This was the loudest thing out there and was clicking off passes in the 10.70 range. Owners name is Jose and he owns Joses Rotary Performance shop in the local area.

This hatch here was the fastest thing out there. A shop called Alternative motorsports brought it out and the owner was a really cool guy. His best of the day was 9.08 in the 150s. Very nice run for these guys.

I just want to congratulate Chuck from Alternative Motorsports. I'm amazed at the times he's running with that car, great driving is definitely a major part! For those of you who didn't see it or realize his setup. Those runs were at 25psi on a t66, a single stage boost controller (25psi all the way down), and 26" slicks! I don't know that i've ever seen a quicker number from a honda on 26's, has anyone else? Another congrats to Phillip from Honda Heaven, who i believe won his class as well with a 12.3? on radials with a stock block ls/vtec at 11psi. Sounds like there was some decent racing goin on, wish i could've made it!
It was nice to get to meet some more people off here today. Does anyone know what kinda 60' the red hatch from Alternative Motorsports was cutting? It was coming outta the hole something crazy. My boost controller quit working so I was stuck running 19psi all day. I was very happy with a few 10.6's @139 on 19psi. Did you happen to get any pics of a green hatch?
Chucks car was cutting mid 1.6's when we tested in Oklahoma last week. He was going 9.3's there with a bad alignment problem. The car was smoking the tires at the big end from tire scrub! I'm sure his 60's there in LA. were in the 1.5's to 1.6's. He's only running 26" tires, which is small now a days for a hot rod car. That car should 60' consistent 1.3's once it's all dialed in with a 28" tire.

It's a 92-95. I don't have any pics, but i'll see if i can get some. I think we're gonna put a bigger turbo on it and retune it before the nopi race.

There's a couple pics here on his site, probably not what you're looking for though.

Thats a damn hot ET for 26's, they look like 10 wides. Sav went at least 9.3 157 on 26X10, and Laskey went 9.3 15X on 26X9. Both Good Years.

this car was no joke he ran a couple passes in the 9.4 range then he hit one 9.18 i think and somewhere in there he ran the 9.08. That car launched really hard!!

what is tire scrub?
what is tire scrub?
crap i replied from the wrong name, sorry tony. The term scrub i am familiar with is left to right (fore/aft) movement from the a arm geometry pushing or bringing the wheels in and out without a change in camber.
why are the tires toed out and fighting each other
why are the tires toed out and fighting each other
Well, i meant scrub as in tires not going the same direction.
He had competition engineering lower control arms, which uses heims instead of the inner control arm bushing. It still uses the stock rubber rear lower control arm bushing so they made it solid. We were hoping that it wouldn't flex since they were all solid and wouldn't need radius rods to the front. Well, we were wrong, the arms themselves flexed and as the tire tries to drive it forward, the tie rods pull back and cause toe out. Radius rods were installed and the car is great now, and picked up quite a bit of MPH.

very interesting. so you felt that with the comp bars there was no forward movement? (how much do you think the spring was compressing) but without comp bars, what was the cause for the flex in the lower arm, just control arm deflection?
No, it was comp. control arms, not radius rods. They were flexing on their own, but not noticibly with radius rods fabricated for them. The only thing i could see it being was control arm deflection. Have you seen the comp control arms? I know at least 3-4 people have broken them. Also, you have your two inner points on the chassis. Well, the rear point intersects with the actual control arm about 4-5 inches in from the balljoint, so there that much tube that can flex. Another issue may be that the wheels have very little offset so the inside of the tire is about inline with the balljoint, giving it alot of leverage on the control arm.
Damn, I had no idea that the alternative guys were that fast. I got stuck in OKC over night last summer and after the local Honda dealer laughed me out of the service bay Alternative had me up and running with a great deal on a used ignitor in under an hour. Hell they even picked me up from McD's to tell me that they got the car done early.
thanks Tony, i cant wait till i can get the two step hooked up and run better than a 2.1 60". I will be dyno tuning it this week so we will see what it is really putting down.
