Default 3 Bar Xenocron Map Sensor.. Now Doesent Run

Ever since I installed the new map sensor, the car has been not running Huh On a 98 ex Y8 with a xenocron 3 bar. I thought it was the chip so I got rid of the basemap and trying different maps in crome but nothing works. Now im starting to think I hooked it up wrong somehow. I totally wrecked the stock one, and I dont wanna revert back and have this be a complete waste of time. Anyone have any suggestions? I took a few pics and a quick video of the problem..

u have to change the map so it can run the 3bar, no stock map is going to run with a 3bar map sensor.

Also, you need leave the stock map sensor installed to block the throttle body port & use a vacuum line to source your vacuum to your map sensor...

I always use those for these aftermarket sensors. No worries about proper seal, and I get the same signal/source the oem sensor gets.

Sweet! Thanks for the sales! If you'll PM us your address, we'll send you a free MAPTER to clean up your MAP installation a little. They are similar to the item cbustuner posted above.

You can check them out here in our store - MAPTER from Tuner Toys

And there is photo installation blog here - MAPTER Installation Photo Blog

Thanks for the purchase, and good luck with your project!

Yep, the LHT is pretty clean. If you are connecting with tubing, it's cleaner than ours. If you plan on using the Kavlico, AEM, or different sized tubing, our 1/8NPT threaded port will make it easy to adapt. Both the Kavlico and the AEM will thread right into our fitting.

The thing I like about the tt piece is the angle of the 1/8th hole.

When I first did mine I used a nipple and it came straight up and since it was so close to the strut bar there was a small kink,so I had to dig up a right angle fitting. Also if I wanted to switch to an aem style map sensor I would have to use a brass street elblow. The tt peice eliminates the need to do either, but when I needed one, they didn't make them yet.

Make sure the maps were rescaled properly. Since the car starts in 0 Hg" (like WOT), a map that had the scalars changed but not the cell values would make it (in this case) use 40% less fuel at that load point. Add in battery injector offsets that aren't perfect, and its getting less than half the fuel it should be.

BTW wiring looks good, at least that the wires are connected to the right 'legs'. But I always solder my connections, even if its temp.

Check the sensor voltage at the ECU input. If its a 3bar map sensor, it should read about 1.6Volts when the engine isn't running. That way you check both the sensor and the wiring.

I'm curious how you ruined the stock sensor. It would be unfortunate chasing down the wrong bug if somehow it wasn't the 3bar sensor. As long as voltages are as they should be (idle and while engine off), its not the sensor.

Mind posting any of those 3bar bins, or maybe give us the numbers you used when configuring crome? It *will* be different from the GM 3bar, as well as the other 3bars that may already be input into crome.

Yeah, the scalars were posted on pgmfi.org recently if I remember correctly.

Wow, yeah..sorry, I've been on my honeymoon for a couple of weeks. Thanks for the vote of customer service when I posted in one of your other threads (on my honeymoon none the less) EXACTLY what you needed to do.

See thread:
http://www.homemadeturbo.com/f...737.0

I have offered for you to SEND THE MAP SENSOR BACK so I can test it for you myself (free of charge)...but I guess I still "didnt help much" at all...again, while I am away trying to enjoy my honeymoon.

Last but not least, I stress again, this map sensor was tested in a car and run before it was mailed off...I know because I did this personally
