Default 3 bar map sensor question

what exactly does a 3 bar map sensor do? ive heard it just cuts map voltage by 1.7/3 linearly. is this true?

i screwd up myquestion. it can read up to 3 bar of pressure, 1 of which is atmospheric, but when it does read this pressure, does the ecu merely see 1.7/3 bar of pressure * actual pressure? in terms of corresponding fuel values with actual map sensor voltage. ahh its so hard to explain lol

like if its 2.7 bar boosted. does the ecu just use the fuel value in 2.7 * 1.7 / 3 = mbar for the mbar value?

depends on what ecu...some use the last highest value...some just dump a whole **** load of fuel
