3" Exhaust with magnaflow muffler = LOUD
I just got my 3" carsound cat, 3" piping, and 3" magnaflow muffler and it is HELLA loud. I want to slap a resonator on it, what body length do you guys suggest? Also, I have noticed that when I let my foot off of the accelerator, and then back on it giving maybe 20% throlle, i hear a popping noise from my exhaust, waht gives? Thanks

I think its due to you 3inch cat, cuz I have the same set-up with a Thermal 3inch and testpipe and its not loud at all!

The cat should quiet it down more. I think people have a different definition of loud. I have 3 inch piping, magnaflow muffler, 3inch resonator and no cat. Its not too loud at all outside the car but sometimes it gets a little loud inside. Cruising at around 4k rpm you cant even hear it. The tone is great, I love it. Try slapping on a resonator but i doubt it will really do too much.

not sure but I have a 2.5dp 2.5-3.0 testpipe and Thermal 3inch and people told me it was going to be so loud but my friends JRSC GSR with a stock cat and greddy evo is louder!

i know our definition of loud differs, but in the car when im driving, i cant hear anything else because the deep tone is just like drowning everything out. Ionno, maybe some people dig that

I'm surprised that your turbo hasn't done much to lessen the noise. I have a 2.5" exhaust with a 2.5" glasspack, 2.5" carsound cat, and a Magnaflow muffler. It's not bad at all and there's still no turbo yet. (argh )
I know there's a big diff between 2.5" and 3", but my buddy's car (B16a2, Greddy turbo) had a Thermal R&D 3" with a welded in Borla resonator and it was very doable.

the longer the quiter, you probably got a stright through muff. Sound for performance.

You are probably just backfiring.

If you want to add a resonator, then just make sure you use the longest one that will fit, and make sure that it is STRAIGHT THROUGH so you don't add any restriction.
I have a 3" system on the DSM with a straight-through bullet muffler and an Edelbrock RPM series on the back end, and it's not loud AT ALL. My buddy has a 2.5" system on his Integra with 2 straight-through mufflers, and besides the Honda raspyness <ducks> it sounds great.

me and my brothers cars (d16y8 turbo, b18c1 turbo, both with 3" exhaust+test pipe) also backfire when we let of the gas and give it around 20% throttle. not sure if its bad for your motor or not, who cares .
if you really want to hear em pop try getting on it about 50% throttle to about 5k rpm in second gear and let off the throttle abruptly, while the engine is decelerating down second gear VERY VERY slightly jab your throttle, but do it quickly, id say at most about 1-3% throttle(should hardly be able to feel the throttle cable opening the TB) do it about 2-5 times and youll be looking out your windows looking for someone with a gun
p.s.- im sure this isnt "good" by any means, so do it at your own risk.
